Re: Bounced nicely off 7.58 this morning I sold this morning when it went through my support level of 769. the downward momentum and well below the 50 and 200 MA re-enforces my decision. I can see this continuing to decline and will look to get back in at the appropriate time. It is a good company but currently out of fav
Bounced nicely off 7.58 this morning Good to see previous supports from June held this morning almost to the penny at 7.58I have 7.36 & 7.26 as early July lows if it fails.Anyone else watching to buy around these levels.
Re: First quarter trading update It's axiomatic in retail that heatwaves kill footfall (other than for booze/barbies). You see a similar dynamic for other companies in a downstream from housing position. The market & housing data shows a turnaround kicking in start Oct/end Sept & running at least until Easter.
Re: First quarter trading update I too have bought back in @ 822. Got to be the best bargain around. Surely this is a no-brainer. Only a blip due to the unexpected warmer weather. When you consider DNLM has been racking towards £10 in the last year or so. And pays a great dividend. One of my cash cows.
First quarter trading update Market unimpressed by today's announcement of total 1st quarter revenue falling 1.8% and total like-for-like growth decreasing by 3.8%.The statement that DNLM continues to outperform the homewares market as a whole only commands a "belief" strength from management. That's probably killed any expectation of a repeat special dividend in the spring.Hopefully the SP fall is overdone, and have bought back in on expectation of improved footfall and sales when the cold arrives, though SP has fallen since.Callun

Dunelm warming up, says Peel Hunt Homewares retailer Dunelm Group (DNLM) is showing signs of momentum despite the warmer weather hitting sales early in the year, according to Peel Hunt.Analyst John Stevenson retained his buy recommendation and target price of £10 following news of 6.2% rise in full-year profits and a 16.7% hike in the dividend.Dunelm has announced final results in line with expectations, he said. While the statement is not awash with new information, there are numerous signs of clear momentum within the business. Were it not for a slow start to Q1 due to warm weather depressing sales, we would be seeing upgrades. As it stands, conservative forecasts mean consensus [analyst views] can take this in its stride and we may still see upward pressure to estimates as the year progresses, Stevenson said.He added: If the shares weaken on a slow Q1, we would view this as an excellent buying opportunity. The shares dropped 23p, or 2.5%, to 892.5p.[link]
Re: Recent price drop I fully agree with Bernie. However , DUNELM tend to out perform in times of recession due to their "value" proposition . Being the most profitable retailer in Britain does insulate somewhat and I suspect seines in the property market going forward will speed up the rollout with cheaper leases on new stores .Remember with Dumelm you're getting almost 100% of the earnings paid out in divis ( via increased divis and specials) . Therefore you're really looking at a 6.5% yield - pretty good to me !
Re: Recent price drop Re "Does anyone have any theories" ...1. Cost of goods ( this is a guess, I don't know what % of what Dunelm sells is sourced in Dollars or any other currency which Sterling is now weak against ). If those costs can't be passed on to the consumer then margins would be weaker2. General economy fears. What Dunelm sells are discretionary items3. More specific fears about the effect on house prices. If that effects new house sales then, traditionally, that would have hit sales at places like DunelmI sold up here not far off a year ago, but see the current situation as an opportunity to reinvest, so bought a few yesterday. With the current volatility in the markets there will probably be opportunities to buy at a lower price, but I'm hoping all the fears I've mentioned have been overdone and, unless there's a sharp recovery to something like a tenner, will stick these in the bottom drawer for a few years and collect the divis.
Re: Recent price drop And the mid cap index is showing more volatility than the FTSE 100
Re: Recent price drop The family own half the shares still. Thus there's an extremely limited free float for trading. So it's v sensitive to even modest amounts of panic selling. On their trading I will be v v surprised if their next qtr figs are anything other than strong. Mainly because 2 co. I know closely have delivered & are delivering v strong & accelerating t/o etc in similar arena.
Recent price drop Does anyone have any theories on why Dunelm has dropped so severely after Brexit vote. Most of my other investments have recovered but not Dunelm?
The Petition is gaining support Apologies for board hopping but-The petition is going quite well; 4300+ signatures so far. Although it really needs a turbo boost.[link] petition was stalled in parliament since 12th Aug 15; finally green lit on 12th feb 2016.The FCA don't even reply on the matter, now is your chance to have your say.If you hate seeing buys reported as sells etc!!!!!!Has already been sent to Martin Lewis, Daily Mail, Moneyweek & Watchdog. My local MP supported this petition by writing to the petitions committee to help un-stall it.Theres 650 MPs in Westminster, So have you written to your MP? 649 to go!If this petition doesnt reach 10,000; then imo we might as well have not bothered as it will almost certainly be filed B1N; @ 10,000 the government should respond. So If you havent yet signed or indeed have but havent passed it on to others, then nows the time to do so. We really need a social / media savvy individual to help generate more interest in this.
Re: Message to Will Adderley Valuemanbuyer,Yes Bill Adderley used his experience from Woolworths to source his goods. Dunelm was one of the biggest customers of Fogarty, the duvet and pillow makers, and I believe that they eventually took over that company to secure their supplies.
Re: Message to Will Adderley JaymacV interesting personal history thx . I too bought in a year after they floated having sold product to them for several years and realised the enormous potential and unique offer they possess. With plans to double the size and the team to do it I don't worry about the small share divestiture. A large chunk of his wealth is still in the company alongside us.
