Warren Buffet It seems to me nasty headlines turn readers off and circulation falls. If DMGT continues selling off the silverware to partly support the paper business then what will be left? Social media is winning over the papers- DMGT could well be one of the big casualties. It needs to change or face an endgame strategy.

Warren Buffet Hi Stutes, I woukd be more than happy if the Daily Mail and all its investors went bust. It is a disgusting and scurrilous and racist rag. There would be no tears from me. Sell out while you can! Cheers, Frog in a tree

Warren Buffet Warren Buffet has sold his paper busines; DMGT with its falling circulation needs to show that the papers can survive and have a future.

FT Billboard spend FT reports billboard spend set to top newspaper ad sales. I think the UK newspaper industry could face a similar switch.

DMGT buys I How can DMGT buy a newspaper when such assets are suffering falling sales, competition from internet site? What about Telegraph? I suggest DMGT should sell its paper side and focus on growth businesses. Boosting profits through cost cutting is a short term fix, it doesn’t address the strategic weaknesses of falling sales and advertisement income.

Future of DM Telegraph reported up for sale, a trophy asset yet low profit. Seems at least one paper owner is prepared to call it a day - DMGT should perhaps follow suit.

Future of DM Shows to me how the DM brand should be offloaded before it imploded, resulting in a low valuation of the assets

Future of DM Everything connected with the DM should be shut down pronto and banned forever for spreading lies and hate. IMHO, SBK

Future of DM In this age of shareholder accountability should DMGT become a one share one vote business?

stutes 20 Oct 2019

Future of DM The reported difference between Mr Dacre and the Editor of the Daily Mail over advertisers avoiding the brand suggest the brand remains damaged goods? Why should DMGT buy Independent and/or Telegraph Grp’s- if circulation is continually falling - better to offload the papers and move into growth sectors or pay a special dividend? The business should see the Dacre spat as a signal the brand remains damaged goods and should go?

The Sun Tabloids rumoured to be cutting staff Falling circulation at The Sun resulting in staff cuts - how will DMGT respond in kind to its falling circulation numbers? Any restructuring comes at a cost to shareholders.

Missed opportunity or admission of what? The papers revenue continues to fall; consumers can get free/limited news from BBC24/SKY/ITV/GOOGLE and Bloomberg. What is the average age profile of a DM reader? I think new readers are not replacing the older readers quickly enough perhaps? If true then DM is not attracting younger readers and its future looks bleak. I think DM should be sold asap.

stutes 06 Dec 2018

Missed opportunity or admission of what? I think DMGT needs to accept newspapers are in competition with BBC Online, Reuters, Bloomberg and therefore why should anyone pay for news when it is free from BBC? DMGT should, in my opinion, look to offload the paper business and reinvent itself including rebranding the Group.

stutes 05 Dec 2018

Missed opportunity or admission of what? DMGT reported to have looked over the Indy but having been reluctant to be a part of the consolidation, what is left for DMGT to boost eps/dips? As for Brexit uncertainty hurting the business I find it a bit hollow - the Board have had over 2yrs to position the business and to lobby the politicians .
