Re: Corporate Action and redeem shares? Basically each year shareholders have the option of redeeming shares for cash.....historically this has been at NAV. If the actual share price is above the NAV (as now - premium c 4%) then it makes no sense to redeem if you still like / want the shares. If you think the future looks less rosy and are looking to sell, then depending on the size of your holding it may well be cheaper to sell in the open market. If the trust was at a discount.....ie share price lower than NAV then if the offer arose it may be worth considering if you wanted to get without your holding.Hope that helps?PE
Corporate Action and redeem shares? Hi, can anyone explain how this works? I am at a loss as to whether it is in my interest to act or not...
Diverse Income Investment Trust DIVI Andrew Pitts in February 2016 edition of Money Observer writes in his column 'Inside Money' that sustainable equity income is one of his main themes for 2016 and he cites Diverse Income as one of the Investment Trusts he expects to hold up well partly because it has exposure further down the capitalisation scale than City of London, Edinburgh and Troy Income & Growth. The premium is only 0.26% today so I am considering a buy in the coming days. Any other thoughts on DIVI?
Re: put option I have been wondering about buying in here but have decided to go for the open ended version (Miton UK multi cap income) since - at least through Hargreaves Lansdown - the charges are lower and you buy at net asset value whereas the investment trust trades at a premium.Seems like a good outfit (I also hold shares in Miton Group) and I especially like the FTSE put option.
Re: put option Pharma,I have just read this interesting report.[link] must admit i know zero about Put Options and the more i read about them the more confused i become. If i understand his quote in the article, he is keeping hold of the put option, even though the strike price as been breached. It will be interesting to see how the trust price reacts in the coming days.Stokeie
Re: put option Yes I think the put option at the FTSE-100 level of 5800 must be providing comfort to investors and is likely to explain why the share price is holding up well and why there is no significant discount to nav at the time of writing. Of course, alot of the smaller companies in which Diverse invests will have virtually nil direct exposure to china will should also help the share price, although rationality can go out the window at times like these. A decent dividend also helps underpin the price. I must admit I am not too keen on managers who use this type of option because it is so difficult to time the market, but I must congratulate the manager on this one, and I guess there is no harm in being cautious when the market is making new highs.
put option Hi,I noticed that the FTSE100 fell below the 6000 mark this morning, so i think it is safe to assume, that means the manager made a great call in his extension of the put option at the 6000 level. Maybe that is why the price is holding up very well compared to the carnage going on elsewhere.Stokeie
