Last man standing? Debenhams, M&S and John Lewis to pluck up most of House Of Frasers street custom?
Re: Debenhams offers financial services Primark all tills were in use and a mega que so there were people shopping anyway managed to get some currency
Re: Debenhams offers financial services It may have escaped the attention of one or two but it's been a sunny and warm (for most of us) bank holiday Monday. Not the best day to evaluate the state of a retailer's business!
Re: Debenhams offers financial services Same in loads of shops, have just been in Sainsbury's like a morgue.
Re: Debenhams offers financial services Dead 6 people in cafe tills dead
Re: Debenhams offers financial services Going into the Blackburn store soon give you a update later
Debenhams offers financial services IT ALL HELPS[link] will look at offering its customers savings products and loans, as part of its plans to grow its financial services business and reduce its reliance on retail.Andy Newman, head of personal finance, said that offering loans and savings products would be a logical next step for Debenhams financial services.Any branded savings and loan products that it offers would be done through a third party provider. However Newman said that the firms immediate priority is to grow its foreign exchange business. The department store group has bureaux de change in more than 110 of its stores and last month it teamed up with Western union to provide global money transfer services to its customers.

Re: DEB HiIndeed an interesting and welcome rise. That has just taken me to very minor net profit here, initial buy was too high, took a chance and bought 5 x size earlier in the week, then sold that at profit.Averaging down in a roundabout way.GL Allsoi
Re: DEB " But has it got the management to press home this advantage? " Quite. But something is going on - the sp is up over 6% today as I type. That would be a big rise on no news...
Re: DEB MexicomanJust so. But there will always be a place for Bricks and Mortar. The High Street is shrinking as we well know, but the upside of those left standing in theory is a bit more pricing power. Also with all the CVA's flying around, some landlords might be open to renegotiation of rents on the quiet. As it is far cheaper for them to keep an existing tenant in situ, rather than having them walk away and being left with an impossible property to let. Every location is different of course.Debs is in a stronger position than most because of its very weakness. But has it got the management to press home this advantage?
Re: DEB Watching tv programme tonight about internet delivery firms not good

Re: info Today, see above.Change:+ 0.940 (4.27%)
Re: info Where is the competitive advantage? What is the usp? Where are the b2e's? When is cutting/shrink fitting a growth strategy? Etc etc. You pays your money you takes your choice. Yes some companies are lacklustre on this sort of an appraisal. There again some are very good. But truly few are currently as woeful as DEB. Again we come back to the margins are imploding & proposed action is at best running to stand still. I suspect this goes into CVA or outright 'phut' within a year.
