Share Price I was a bit puzzled by the share price moving to 2.86-3p this morning. The price of oil has just gone up a bit and the price of thermal coal for delivery from Richards Bay in October has just gone to its highest level for a little while:-[link] is always talk about China cutting back on steel production, but this article implies that it will still increase and as a consequence so will the demand for coking coal:-[link] position in India is still unclear but they have just had a go at sorting out their tax system and embarking on a huge investment program eg roads:-[link] one would reasonably assume that the Indian economy could continue to rapidly grow and in tandem its demand for steel and energy. The B

Coal India Hearing some chit-chat this morning that Coal India are looking to acquire S African coal assets. They supply 80% of Indian thermal coal, but are struggling to meet production targets.Maybe this is where our Mittal link comes in? After all, South African imports are higher quality and cheaper than Australia/Indonesia.

Good rise today post RNS Business still progressing...

S Africa As part of my research I am on holiday in S Africa - just been to the Kruger Game Reserve that does not seem to be that far from CZA's coal fields. The thing that grabs my attention is the election coming up - will the result help move ESKOM? Today saw an enormously long coal train on the way to Moputo - really skinny gauge so that the rains can negotiate the bends. What really strikes one is the severe drought that they have here. Lets hope that El Nino sorts itself out so water licensing is not an issue. The B

Re: Chinese consortium to invest $2.8 billi... More interesting when you consider who the larger investors in CZA are, and keen to progress project with them backing UC deal. Still huge potential here and glad DB had shareholders interest at heart. No point paying 40% over odds for asset with no Eskom deal in place

Re: UC - RNS I would be happy to receive 10p+ a share for CZA right now... if the Chinese are interested. £200m wouldn't make a big dent in their budget...Hopefully, CZA will tell us "what is next" to follow in lieu of Universal and current plans.

Re: UC - RNS Must have a plan B otherwise we would have surely taken the option to keep rolling the deadline until Eskom signed off take deal with NCC. There's some other assets we could buy, but frustrating price of Coal has increased significantly since our offer for universal was accepted. If 30/40% of UC deal was for NCC maybe we could cherry pick their other assets. Having had good relationship with their management and understand their business, would a deal not be in everyone's interests going forward. It feels so much effort has gone into this deal when ultimately wasn't going to happen. What if consolidation within the sector means someone swallows Coal. As per 2bozmo's post, Chinese are investing a huge amount in Makhado area.

Re: UC - RNS This is disappointing but better not to buy than complete the deal without any confidence that the Universal part of the greater CZA company will add value.CZA need to get some production and revenue going though a.s.a.p. - is there a Plan B?
