I make the new issue price 67 cents or 3p. That surely has to be a guaranteed bottom?

The buzz 13 May 2016

Topped Up Just got 80k at 2.975p a share (shown as a sell!).I suspect that today's fall was due to the RNS about the issue of more shares. I took this as a buying opportunity with scope for a useful rise once the deals have gone through. The B

BUY NOW!! The Chinese are apparently banging the door down to get in on the action here.. watch for a rerating.... Shenzen Stock Exchange-listed Hengshun may invest in its Makhado project and its buyout offer for Universal Coal had reached an acceptance level of 93.2%.The coal mine developer said in a quarterly report remaining cash at the end of March was $27.1m.Hengshun proposes to acquire up to 34% of Makhado via CoAL’s subsidiary Baobab for about $114mThe final transaction valuation would be subject to both parties’ negotiation, a valuation report issued by an internationally reputable accounting firm and the conclusion of a formal subscription and sale agreement between both parties."The memorandum of understanding with Hengshun is an important milestone in the identification of a strategic investor for the development of the company’s flagship Makhado coking coal project," CEO David Brown said in Friday’s statement."Hengshun has commenced its due diligence on Makhado and has also expressed its interest to acquire a stake in the project and provide facilitated debt."Lastly, I’m pleased to report that CoAL has now received 93.2% acceptances from its shareholders for the potential acquisition of Universal Coal. Importantly, the acquisition will transform the CoAL into a cash generative mid-tier South African coal producer."A setback during the quarter was the suspension of the integrated water use licence for the Makhado Project, granted in January, following an appeal by the Vhembe Mineral Resources Forum to the Department of Water and Sanitation.Makhado’s 26-month construction phase is expected to begin as soon as all regulatory approvals are in place, which is expected to be before July next year.A design of the mine underway by international engineering group DRA is scheduled for completion next month.

Re: Thermal coal rising prices great new... A good post buzz,In addition to Peabody bankruptcy the US Coal Industry is in an interesting place. The West Virginia primary will be interesting this weekend with Clinton guaranteeing miners will be out of work and coal mines shut down if she is elected to the White House in November.

Re: Thermal coal rising prices great new... Well quite. Expect the UC deal to go through on May 20th. Out of interest, who was your broker who suggested re-rating?

Re: Thermal coal rising prices great new... My broker told me Coal Of Africa is due a considerable re-rating and is telling his clients to Buy.I have to agree..

Re: Thermal coal rising prices great new... I forgot to mention that supply has been shrinking. US coal upset prices - and now Peabody is bankrupt - this might stem the flow of US coal. Now the Czech mine has gone bankrupt - this article gives the background reasons;-[link] throw in the strong recovery of coking coal this year - so much that the regulators are trying to calm things down in China:-[link] that it mentions that the property market is recovering etc etc. For some reason I cannot locate a plot of coking coal, but is likely to reflect the recovery in the iron ore price:-[link] one does need to be wary of short term movements. The following article is a bit sobering, but is has a silver lining for CZA. The money maker is coking coal and India is going to expand production, and has to import more coal as its own resources are of low quality coal. CZA will be able to load the largest sized ships that will fit in Indian ports and have a distance advantage over Australian coal (compared delivering to China).[link] B

Re: Thermal coal rising prices great new... It's clearly being shorted for now.. Great entry price below 4p. If it keeps on dropping even better.10p-12p has to be a target price for now ..

The buzz 05 May 2016

Re: Thermal coal rising prices great news. I must admit not looking at the price of thermal coal for a little while - it used to be in my daily routine - so I was quite surprised to see how much it had been moving:-[link] is great news for CZA as thermal coal will be a 'by-product' for the Makhado mine:-[link] the Vele mine could be re-activated with a stronger market for coal. I suspect that some of the price rise is linked to the price of oil, the spiralling cost/ removal of nuclear energy, expensive wind energy and the need for less polluting (ie quality) coal. Some countries such as India only have coal as its viable way of generating electricity. The story gets more complicated longer term - but that is another story. The B
