Re: COB buy LKH,Not forgetting LLOY at 23p and FENR at 43p. Win some, lose some.Your ULVR is doing nicely though.Cheers, RAC
Re: COB buy RAC,"Reminds me of the time Bae fell below 100p."Glad to see you were able to restrain yourself from mentioning when LGEN fell to 30p or whatever it was!LKH on the flybridge
Re: COB buy LKH,Well I did say it was a punt. Reminds me of the rime Bae fell below 100p. It could be another Marconi though - a modest holding - a bit of fun that can be written off.Cheers, RACP.S. When I thinks of Mellors maybe you should recall Lady Chatterley's lover but then she wasn;t called Antonia who was David's foot bath.
Re: COB buy Dodge,"Mellors is an astute person, an FD who personally gives me confidence."When I think of David Mellors his name reminds me of the gap-toothed feller who used to be a Tory politico back in the day. If you look the latter up on wikipedia you get the following fascinating bit of trivia:"Mellor lives with his partner of 20 years, Penelope Lyttelton, Viscountess Cobham."An odd coincidence!LKH on the flybridge well I thought it was odd ... maybe it's just me
Re: COB buy Rights Issues tend to be confusing beasts. I think that Cob have finally accepted that they needed to be bold/aggressive. Mellors is an astute person, an FD who personally gives me confidence.
Re: COB buy RAC,"Not often an RI is met by an SP rise."Especially when the terms of the RI are not yet known LOL.You're a braver man than I am so far as COB is concerned. I had a quick scan of the results and the margins are getting horribly compressed.A little detail .... how come they are (apparently) losing the UK defence chopper flying contract? You'd think that something like that would be port and nuts to the likes of COB.This could come good ... it might be like investing in Anglo American 15 months ago - a brilliant move - or it could be an ongoing clusterfuck. I'm unsure which is more likely so will remain sat on my hands on the sidelines.Good luck to all bulls of this interesting company.LKH on the flybridge
Re: COB buy As per my post yesterday - buying in hope of rights issue - bingo! Not often an RI is met by an SP rise.Cheers, RAC
Re: COB buy and again
Re: COB buy I just bought and already up

Re: COB buy Good call Dodge!!PROPOSED FULLY UNDERWRITTEN RIGHTS ISSUE COBHAM PLC TODAY ANNOUNCES ITS PROPOSAL TO RAISE APPROXIMATELY £500 MILLION BY WAY OF A FULLY UNDERWRITTEN RIGHTS ISSUE Cobham plc ("Cobham" or the "Group" announces today its intention to conduct a fully underwritten rights issue (the "Rights Issue" to raise approximately £500m (gross proceeds). The Rights Issue is fully underwritten on a standby basis by Bank of America Merrill Lynch, J.P. Morgan Securities plc, which conducts its UK investment banking activities as J.P. Morgan Cazenove, and Barclays Bank PLC, acting through its investment bank. The Rights Issue is anticipated to be completed during the second quarter of 2017.
Re: COB buy "Personally I would be surprised if there were another cash call."Callun - from the most recent relevant RNS. About as unequivocal as these things get:"The balance sheet is clearly not strong enough to properly support the operations of the Group, given the important role it plays in many customer programmes. A strong balance sheet will be an important part of delivering medium term growth. The Board is not sufficiently advanced in the review of the forecast financial position of the Group to be able to give any balance sheet guidance today. This will be provided in the preliminary results announcement on 2 March 2017." You are either talking significant asset sales, a major cash call (probably fairly deeply discounted)... or finding a buyer for the whole shebang. The problem with option 1 is that you can keep selling assets without actually strengthening the balance sheet much - yes, you can cut debt, but not necessarily leverage, as you are cutting EBITDA at the same time. Unless you get lucky with securing good prices for unproductive assets - not something to bet on, usually.Option 3 might be the best result for all concerned, but absent that, a cash call looks inevitable, however painful it may prove.
Re: COB buy Personally I would be surprised if there were another cash call. That would surely be a sign of weak management style, following in the footsteps of predecessors already discredited by several profit warnings and a mess of overspend and high debt. The new management will look for a plan that has a bit of thought put to it, at least, I hope so. It's going to take a bit more than the begging bowl to stop the slide and increase profitability. It's still early days for this CEO, but he should at least be able too provide a roadmap to show where he intends to take the company.Callun
Re: COB buy Taken a small punt - will await results and if rights issue will take up.Risky I know but could benefit from Tango Trump's defence uplift.Cheers, RAC
