Re: Going well Good news from Senegal is helping and it seems there is more to come when they complete drilling this 3rd third evaluation well. Also good news re North Sea coming on stream in 2017 and Cairn are confident that even at a low price they can still profit.As far as India is concerned the news is that negotiations involving International Trading Treaties are taking place and the opinions being expressed about India not being the most reliable country for investing in are sure to be hurting.Additionally it is reported that Cairn are also taking legal action to recover a hefty payment to cover the losses this dispute has caused. Nothing we can do but wait but I am surprised our Government still supports them with significant development grants while they continue to prevaricate.

RBC Broker Note This from RBC earlier today:CNE.L/FAR.AU: Second SNE appraisal well exceeds expectationsMarch 09, 2016 36 am ET Energy CNE.LRating Outperform Price Target 200.00pOperator Cairn has announced the successful testing of the SNE-3 appraisal well (CNE 40%, FAR 15%) offshore Senegal. Operations have been completed following drilling, coring, logging and two drill-stem tests conducted within the thinner Upper Reservoirs, confirming the deliverability of these units which is key to a larger resource number for the SNE field.Test rates ahead of expectation: The first test flowed at a maximum rate of ~5,400bbl//d, and a main flow rate of ~4,000bbl/dd over a 24 hour period from a 15m zone. The additional zone of 5.5m was added and a combined maximum rate of ~5,200bbl/d measured (slightly lower due to pressure depletion), with an associated main flow rate of ~4,500bbl/d over a six hour period. Pre-drill expectation for the flow tests were ~1,000bbl/d. Multiple samples of oil and gas were recovered to surface from wireline logs and drill stem tests, confirming similar API (32 degrees), reservoir quality and correlation of the principal reservoir units between SNE-1, SNE-2 and SNE-3. Similar oil-down-to and oil-up-to depths seen at SNE-3 of 101m gross (95m in SNE-1 and 103m in SNE-2)Resources update next week: Today's results have demonstrated the deliverability of the upper reservoirs to flow at commercial rates and resource estimates for the SNE field continue to be revised upwards. Cairn expects to release an update at the company's preliminary results next Tuesday (15th March), which will include the SNE-2 well results from last month (however, they will not include today's SNE-3 results). We currently include 41p/share for a 468mmbbl SNE field in our Cairn NAV.BEL-1 up next: The Bellatrix exploration/appraisal well (BEL-1) is the third well in this campaign and is expected to start drilling this month. BEL-1 will evaluate the untested Buried Hills play by drilling the Bellatrix exploration prospect that overlies the SNE field. The BEL-1 well will also be deepened to appraise the northern flank of the SNE oil field. We include upside/risk of +31p/-10p/per share for the well in our 243p/share Cairn NAV.

Canaccord From ADVFN:"Canaccord Genuity on Tuesday raised its target on Cairn Energy to 185p from 170p after the company announced the successful testing of the SNE-2 appraisal well offshore Senegal with positive results.The oil and gas exploration and production company on Monday said operations have been safely and successfully completed following drilling, coring, logging and drill-stem testing and the well is now being plugged and abandoned.Cairn said drill-stem testing was carried over a 12 metre interval which produced a stabilised but constrained oil flow rate of 8,000 barrels per day of high quality pay."This is an excellent result for Cairn (40%, operator) and partners ConocoPhillips, FAR Ltd, and Petrosen (state oil company)," Canaccord analyst Charlie Sharp said."Cairn has not provided any updated resource figures (currently 150-670 mmbbls) with 2C of 330 mmbbls, but we would expect an uplift to the base and mid case estimates following the SNE-3 well."Cannacord reiterated its 'speculative buy' rating on the stock.Sharp said despite the difficult market for exploration and production firms, there is "sufficient relatively low-risk newsflow coming up to continue our positive view on Cairn Energy"."Catalysts include the SNE-3 well result in mid/late February with a resource update then or shortly after, the Bellatrix exploration result late Q1 which could de-risk the potential of additional exploration targets, the possibility of committing to the full six-well programme to include additional exploration targets based on new 3D seismic, and even a resolution to the Indian tax dispute."nk

I hope they lose a lot of input from other companies who might have considered investing there. This recent bit of comment looks a little more encouraging.
