Caledonia Mining started with 'buy' at broker Cantor [link]
Why? Does anyone have an explanation as to why this stock always drops when the price of gold goes up (see Canada quote in particular)?

Caledonia Mining Corp (LON:CMCL) Issued With ‘Buy’ Rating From Panmure Gordon [link]
Dividend payer with good growth prospects and healthy financial position but average value. From this excellent report on Caledonia Mining [link]
Hedge Good move, I find. Despite recent gold price recovery, opinions remain divided over how long this will last (i.e. next Fed rate hike may be sooner than one Gold bull would wish for...).
Re: Canadian witholding tax ...and following today's RNS, withholding tax will shortly no longer be an issue so I'm thinking it's looking like top-up time!

up 26%! Check out Canadian quote: CAL:CN!
Canadian witholding tax So having been happily invested here for a couple of years now I've only just realised I seem to have been suffering Canadian withholding tax on my dividends at 25% - d'oh! I think if I fill out an NR301 form I can get that reduced to 15% going forwards. My point in posting (other than to advertise my own stupidity of course) is to point out that as a UK investor, the juicy 8% yield at today's price based on CAD0.06 pa dividends is actually more like 6.8% yield after 15% withholding tax, which when compared with BHP Billiton's current 6.7% yield doesn't seem to factor in much of the increased reward expected for a small cap / Zimbabwe miner. Which makes this company much less attractive for a UK investor than for a Canadian investor.(Not to sniff at a 6.8% yield mind you, I'd still rather have that than deposit account rates.)Tax. Effin' hate it.
Re: Gold's role as an asset is in question, ... Nice to see someone posting on this board I'm still invested in CMCL - love the dividend yield - but wondering if there's something other than the price of gold hammering the share price. Seems like CMCL is getting hit much harder than other producers, when I would have expected it to be hit less given it's a low cost producer so a bit more insulated than most.Would welcome any views.

swiss say no It´s going to suck for the miners if there is a heavy price plunge though. For stackers like myself, it´s just another opportunity to trade paper for gold and silver...only I´ll need less paper than before. CMCL could trade at cash value as it did in the past, buying below 60 censt on TSX imo
