Re: Potentially disruptive technology???? ?Who runs the Auctions? ?Clarkson
Potentially disruptive technology???? I see that BHP are now using electronic auctions to charter the ships they use to carry ore. I wonder if the world of ship broking will be disrupted by this development and whether it will have an impact on Clarkson long term?
NEW ARTICLE: Here's why Clarkson is 'remarkable' "LSE:CKN:Clarkson's "remarkable" run of dividend growth is into a 14th year after the shipping services giant weathered choppy market conditions in 2016. Better still for the FTSE 250 company, one leading analyst is so taken with prospects that ..."[link]
NEW ARTICLE: Can Clarkson yield 3.5% in choppy markets? "The challenging market that forced LSE:CKN:Clarkson's July profits warning is still rearing its ugly head, but a better-than-expected set of first-half results has brought the share price back to pre-warning levels. nice interims in tough conditions Panmure update on research tree: "Clarkson reported underlying profit before taxation for 1H16 of £21.8m on revenue of £147.2m generating underlying EPS of 52.9p. That result was 10% ahead of our 1H16 EPS forecast and within 3% of the 1H15 result. Given how challenging the industry background has been, we regard that as a very positive result. The interim dividend was unchanged at 22p, but we continue to anticipate that Clarkson will increase the FY16 dividend by 2p per share YoY to 64.0p. Net funds available to shareholders increased YoY to £46.7m (1H15 £41.3m) and Clarkson stands to receive approximately £12.6m in dividend and sale receipts from the disposal of its interest in the Baltic Exchange in 2H16."
NEW ARTICLE: Clarkson sunk by profits torpedo "LSE:CKN:Clarkson's dream of a 2016 recovery has been shattered after the world's largest shipbroker warned that uncertainty and weak market fundamentals had ruined profits. Optimists still hope things bounce back in 2017, but that hasn't stopped ..."[link]

In truth, Clarkson had begun to look pretty pricey on around ..."[link]
Results Acquisition of Plateau appears to have cost shareholders dearly with eps way down.

Well done An excellent Stockwatch article to-day. This is a difficult industry to understand and comment on and the article is well researched and balanced.
NEW ARTICLE: Stockwatch: A share to buy amid China woes "Is the plunging stock for shipping services group LSE:CKN:Clarksons overdoing its fall, or a prime example of risks to market valuations as deflation bites? In recent days the Mid 250-listed shares have continued to plunge from a 2,800p peak ..."[link]

better than solid This stock always flies (sails?) under the radar but not unhappy with that as over 30% up in a few months in an essentially flat market over the period. Not quite sure what has been driving (steering?) it this week.
