Dead Cat [link] finally they have admitted it has completely failed and pulled the R&D from the moggy unit to concentrate on technology that they bought from another company to compete with GSK in the respiratory field.Should we just now take the hit and leave Woody to his fate?Games

Re: That's a bit rich, Woody! """Hah! Woody was appallingly bad in deciding to give CIR all that money, which looks as if it has been completely waste"""It's probably one of the main reasons I'll be leaving LGEN soon as well.If a banking collapse happens, highly likely, then LGEN will get walloped.Games -- exited HSBC -- should I just sell CIR and forget about the whole sorry event?

That's a bit rich, Woody! [link] says ""We have been appallingly bad at giving those minnows the long-term capital they need,"Hah! Woody was appallingly bad in deciding to give CIR all that money, which looks as if it has been completely wasted, given that the moggy tabs don't work. And I was appallingly bad in listening to what the crop-haired thug said when he was lauding CIR to the skies.LKH on the flybridge down 70% on this munter

Re: What should I do with this munter? Nose,"Out of interest lk why no stop loss on this stock"Probably foolishly, I never put a stop loss on any stock. I try to buy shares where the value exceeds the market price by a healthy margin .... obviously my method failed big time with this munter LOL ... and, if the share price goes down after I've bought, that merely says to me "It's even better value now, LK".I see that Woody has demonstrated that he still has faith in CIR by raising his stake even further at the beginning of August. You've gotta admire the cahoonas of the feller!LKH on the flybridge

Re: What should I do with this munter? Games,I'm down 70% on this munter but, fortunately, I didn't have that much in it to start with so the pain is tolerable. It's Woody I feel sorry for ... not .... as the crop-haired thug has a fair chunk of his investors' moolah tied up here. He claimed he still kept the faith after the recent failure of the moggy pills, but was hardly likely to say "Yeah, sauve qui peut. This sucker is going down!" while his fund's money was still invested in it.With only 0.5% of my shrunken wad now in CIR I'm holding on pro tem. Not because I have any particular reason to, but mainly faute de mieux. CIR still have plenty of cash on the balance sheet and, who knows? perhaps one of their other tabs will come good. One thing I won't do again in a hurry is be influenced by Woody's view on any small pharma mob unless I have my own reasons to be cheerful about it. As I know next to nothing about tabs this is likely to mean that I avoid the sector entirely, which is probably sensible.LKH on the flybridge tracking steadily north a sadder and a wiser man he rose the morrow mor

Re: Flybridge !! "I'm surprised woody investing in this sector. "In terms of the numbers of companies, it's probably it's highest exposure.Woody's fund is a bit like a VC but with overall 110 companies invested in.There will be many failures in his fund, and some winners I guess -- depends how lucky you are at darts, as I don't imagine Woody has too many scientists on his analyst team.Games

Re: Flybridge !! Biotech is so high risk. I've had 3 companies go bust on me, everything's going fine, trials are successful, then suddenly bang, right at the end, the drugs don't work, and that's after many years holding.a stock that pays no dividends.I'm surprised woody investing in this sector. I like Cohort it's on aim, results out any day. This is not a recommendation, just think.it's a good company in a growing market.Good luck all on this lovely warm.day.Pi

Re: Flybridge !! "The drug has demonstrated a very positive effect, with patients on all doses of the treatment showing a 60% improvement in their symptoms with a very good safety profile. This is better than we had expected – in fact, it’s better than anyone had expected."I don't understand this statement. How can the product be be considered better than expected when it failed?Surely if the people on the trial all had sever symptoms of cat allergy and they responded equally to the drug and the placebo, it must be down to psychology and the drug itself is useless?Concern here, is the methodology completely flawed and surely the expectation it will have no material impact on dust up your nose or whatever else they want to tackle.Unless I'm missing the point, there is no point in what they are developing.Games -- Severe self kicking for losing more than half of what was 0.59% of my portfolio. Not a total disaster but annoying all the same. From now on forward, I will clear from my portfolio anything that resides in Woodford's fund.

Re: Flybridge !! pauloverdiwith that info , why do you still flag a red Sell ?SAGE

Meanbugger 20 Jun 2016

Re: Sneeze It appears that nothing works better than Circassia's cat allergy vaccine (or just as good as).Maybe cat allergies have a significant psychological component which has been under-appreciated for the placebo effect to be so strong. I am incredibly allergic to my niece's cats yet have no problem whatsoever with the Persian cat which I share ownership of - maybe he is just hypo-allergenic. I think the trial results say more about the nature of cat allergies than necessarily the effectiveness of Circassia's vaccine.

Re: Flybridge !! Pauloverdi,"You took the proverbial out of btg and bugged up Circaasia !!"You're right, m8! I'd forgotten about that. Not one of my greatest investment decisions LOL (sob!) We're currently tracking steadily north in the southern reaches of the Bay of Biscay. En route for Blighty and the referendum vote on Thursday. Gotta get my Bulgars at the Wash & Valet to vote Remain."a phase II trial in birch allergy."I'd like to give Steve Harris an allergy to birch ....LKH on the flybridge Assume the position!
