Re: Cashed out. SBG, iDealing credited me with the depository shares. I had to send an e-mail pointing out that their site would not give a quote. They are now quoting 2457.22/2475.33 (about when TMS became tennis!) with standard (£9.90) dealing charge.Seadoc
Re: Cashed out. Hi GamesI haven't yet. TD Waterhouse seem to have done something a bit weird and credited me with XL depository shares that I can't trade. I've emailed them to see what gives.I went for the max cash option with the CGL sale, so the number of XL shares I ended up with probably isn't worth holding on too. I'll sell them when TDW get things straightened out.I put about half of the cash component into GCP infrastructure, the rest I'll use to augment my monthly purchase of JDW; RSW and BLT which I'm building up to par value with other shares I hold in my ISA.Have you had any inspired choices?SBG
Re: Cashed out. sportbill - What have you done with the XL share component yet, anything?Games
Cashed out. Settlement for the max cash offer received in my TD account yesterday. CGL was a productive investment. Here's hoping the cash goes into something that does nearly as well.
Takeover process So, shares suspended, what happens next please?
CGL Suspended this morning at 708.5 - last nights close.Games
Re: And I'm out Perhaps I should have read the Catlin website before hitting the keys.I assume the final dividend of 22p plus the special ITB dividend of 11.7 will be paid out as cash on the top of the 711p. I assume the xd date has passed for the final - I note the xd date for the special was 10 AprilAm I correct in my surmisings?Mm.
Re: And I'm out Per ATS, I am being offered a "mix and match" option worth (388 + 323) 711. This is not as good as the current sp of 715 (I appreciate there will be dealing costs if I sell) but does it make any difference regarding the forthcoming dividend?A slightly confusedMm.
Re: XL takeover mean the dividend we receive... SaturnYou just need to fill in a W8-BEN form and send it to your broker. They almost certainly have a downloadable pdf on their website with a sample of how to fill it in. It's a short, single side of A4 , formYou'll be taxed at 15% on your dividends then. The only UK tax you'll pay is the additional amount you pay up to 32.5% on all dividends if you are a higher rate tax payer and don't have your shares in a ISA/SIPP.My US dividends in my SIPP aren't taxed at all.
And I'm out Well, that's it. I am out of Catlin completely, selling the last of my holding at 717.15p this morning (cum 22p divi from last month). I have to admit to being rather surprised it rose that much above £7 offer price especially with the 22p divi attached to it. So, with the new tax year and CGT allowance upon us, I took the chance to cash in the last of the shares. It's a great shame as I loved CGL and its large and dependable divi. XL is a very good company but its divi policy doesn't match my own so it has to go. Plus I prefer not to hold US companies at this stage. I might deal with the W8-BEN forms in the future if I want to hold US stock but generally they never pay a high enough divi to keep my interest. It's not easy to find a comfy home for my CGL funds. There's a few investment trusts out there paying a handsome divi (have bought NCYF and PEY) but their Guitarsolo coefficient (yield x cover) is usually below 10. CGL used to give me a 12 or better!Guitarsolo - sitting on my hands for the moment.
Re: XL takeover mean the dividend we receive... No, you shouldn't as that would be double taxation. But it may be that you need to reclaim one if they are both taken at source. I wouldn't worry though, XL's divi is so stingy that it won't matter much. GS
XL takeover mean the dividend we receive will be taxed in US and UK too? Hi All,XL takeover mean the dividend we receive will be taxed in US and UK too?
Re: Takeover Thank you for this Seadoc.
Re: Takeover Maybe 4 Months?"I believe that the combination of XL and Catlin would result in a broader, better balanced and more efficient underwriting organisation that would be able to compete more effectively in the evolving marketplace. The acquisition would bring together two highly compatible cultures based on an underwriting-first mentality. Catlin for 30 years has been building a business for the future, and we would continue to do so as part of a new, dynamic organisation."Catlin Group Limited's Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 6 August 2015, instead of Tuesday 5 May 2015 as previously announced.[link]
Takeover Does anyone have any idea of the timescale for takeover completion?
