Re: Good results today Yup, a lovely increase in divi and well covered by profits. Shame that Copper Bay doesn't look like it will be as profitable as hoped, despite still being a feasible project. I think they're right to have that on hold for now, at least until copper prices rise, and it sounds like there may be more promising irons in the fire. With such pragmatic management, this continues to be a top investment for income and growth.
Good results today Results are decent - especially considering the average copper price last year. Looking like this year it'll average a fair bit higher. Exploration kicking off at the new acquisition in q2 + western dumps at kounrad start processing.Weak tenge and sterling plus relatively strong dollar works out well for this company. No debt, cash in the bank.Final dividend increased to 10p a share bringing the total for last year to 15.5p
Re: Zambian copper mine strike sorry I made rather a messof that posting. There is a strike at the largest copper mine in the world in Chile but also a strike at Vedanta in Zambia since January th - I've seen no news saying either has been settled.
Re: Zambian copper mine strike Teletext yesterday said the strike was in Chile.
Re: Zambian copper mine strike Isn't the strike at Escondida in Chile?[link] has also been cut the world's #3 mine at Grasberg in indonesia:[link] you say together these mines produce a very significant amount of copper, the longer this goes on the more impact it'll have on cu prices.
Zambian copper mine strike Goopd rise today possibly due to the strike at the largest coppermine in the world in Zambia. If the strike lasts it is likely to increase copper prices.
Re: Impressive results Great results. SP performance seems lagging probably because whole market is down. Should recover later in the week: could go up to 190p+. It is the star performer in my portfolio. If the interim report is to be believed, this company has done everything right since being formed 5 years ago. Surprising why more investors do not buy for the increasing divvy income alone.
Impressive results And nice dividend increase. If they can perform this well in a weak copper market what will they do when copper recovers?
Re: Reserves Thank you daverob82. If I am still around I will be 90 in 2030 so I don't think that I need worry about the life of the Kounrad project! The key issues now are how quickly the price of copper picks up and the political/ economic stability of the ex part of the USSR in which the project is located.MALBRAD
Re: Reserves Worth reading the full 2015 Results RNS. Last para:---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---"Outlook and growth opportunities We will focus our efforts on maintaining our low cash costs and meeting our 2016 production target of 13,000 to 14,000 tonnes. Consistent monitoring and analysis of the copper leaching rate since production commenced in April 2012 indicates that the recovery of copper from the dumps is taking slightly longer than originally projected. The Company remains confident of producing the same total tonnage of copper from the Kounrad resource as previously estimated, thereby extending the life of the operation beyond 2030.Delivery on time and within the capital budget of the Stage 2 Expansion programme at Kounrad is a primary objective for 2016. Further to our investment in Copper Bay, we continue to look for only the very best investment opportunities to create value for our shareholders. With CAML's strong balance sheet, the Company is confident that it has sufficient funds available to finance the dividend policy, complete the capital expansion at Kounrad and provide the Company with the financial flexibility to support the growth of the business."---------- ---------- ---------- --------So beyond 2030 at Kounrad. Copper Bay (in Chile) is 75% owned by CAML and is currently the subject of an in-depth feasibility study. Great thing here is the cash position of the company and the low production cost, given the low copper prices. A sustainable 7% divi from a miner is not to be sniffed at these days and de-risks the investment in my opinion!
Reserves I am thinking of investing in CAM and note that it's business model involves processing old mining spoil heaps. Does anybody know how long this can carry on for at current production levels before all the heaps have been used?MALBRAD

Re: Are the risks real? Don't be lonely HOF!I'm not knowledgeable enough to opine on copper future prices, but I agree with your sentiments: a company that's been very good at giving shareholder returns, with increasing production at low prices, has to be a good bet for the (eventual) commodities recovery.I thought I was fully invested in this stock, but I'm reconsidering as the price drops
Re: Are the risks real? Well I'll respond to my own posting. (At least that way there's not much chance of a disagreement!)Well the price has fallen since I last posted. The price of this share is essentially a bet on the price of copper and it has fallen steadily since last May and is on a five year low. As long as our production costs result in prices below this five year low we may still be profitable but the decine in share price since last May shows how much we depend on that copper price. So far the company has shown it increases the dividend in response to greater profits so it looks to me worth holding on and hoping the copper commodity price cycle swings our way again. Next year - the year after? - four years? Whoi knows but it will happen.OK so I will hold will I increase at this low price? While the price continues to drop perhaps better to wait and watch and come back in at a better price. DYOR but I would like to hear views on copper future privces.
