MARKET LOVES PROPERTY STOCKS Election result Well the election result has lifted Property stocks and the next few years we are in for some serious uplift in New Homes being built. No doubt Bellway will be taking its share of the market, Bernie sit tight plenty of scope ahead !!!!
lessons from history 1977 Minority Labour government, supported by Liberals, introduces Rent Act giving unlimited security and low rents to all new tenants. The private rental market starts to shrink and soon the only new tenancies are for company lets and holidays1978 Winter of discontent. Trade unions sense they have the upper hand and there are widespread strikes for more pay. The SNP press for Scottish devolution but just fail to win a referendum.1979 The SNP cynically side with the Tories (who opposed devolution) in a vote of no confidence, bringing down Callaghan's government and putting Margaret Thatcher in powerThe SNP have been cynical political manipulators throughout history. They will do anything to get more power for Scotland including pushing Labour so far to the left (aided by the Trade Unions) that the English will simply want to get rid of Scotland. I already do.
Re: miliband spooks housing market Thanks for posting the graph showing the left hand side of the mountain, boring bernie. Soon you'll be able to post the graph showing the right hand side.
Re: miliband spooks housing market "No wonder house-building shares are on the way down."Okay mate xxxTo be fair, I'd have expected a drop pre-election due to the uncertainties, but it's not really happened. There may well be a drop over the next month or two as the whole political situation shakes out, but I wouldn't want to be my house on it. If the sp dropped far enough, I might even top up a bitNice to see us over £20 though, even if it is about to crash due to "worries" about the election result
miliband spooks housing market He is now taking his first tentative steps back in history to the reviled Rent Act with 3-year security of tenure for tenants and rent capping. It is likely to lead to increased homelessness as landlords refuse to let to tenants who have no track record, and increased dilapidation of property as landlords are disincentivised from making improvements. In the nightmare of a Milidand-SNP government, with all its landlord-bashing legislation, who will want to buy property for rental? No wonder house-building shares are on the way down.

Re: Trading Update / Interims Well, those results were even better than I'd expected with eps coming in at 103p.Based on early reservations it looks like H2 has started well too.The happy days here look like they're going to continue for a little while yet !Bb
Re: Trading Update Dont think you are wrong, there is so much more demand for housing projected over the next 10 years and I believe Bellway will take their share of this ,good luck Bernie .I am sitting on my hands with this .
NEW ARTICLE: Bellway undervalued "News that hedge funds have started preparing to make money from a downturn in the London housing market has, predictably, hit sentiment in the housebuilding sector. However, LSE:BWY:Bellway has had a good start to the year and the outlook is ..."[link]
Re: TOPPED UP Yes BERNIE, Still happy banking the dividends !!, Bought in at £6 and £7 many years back, and in and out a few times too.
Re: TOPPED UP Blimey Mikey !This thread you've bumped is more than seven years old, and the sp must have been a bit under £10 back then just before the really dark days ? Can't believe we're both still here.
Re: TOPPED UP Nice to have stuck with Bellway, good dividends banked on the way too !!!
Re: SDLT Ah, I wondered why the sp had gone up.I'm not sure it'll make a huge difference to us, but it's good news never the lessLooks like we've got a bit of a rally going on at the moment. Maybe £20 this year is possible after all ?*cue fall back to £17 !
