Re: Pay dates? vb6,They've usually announced the first div for payment around Jan/Feb by now (Oct/Nov in the past) but nothing to date and nothing on the website either. Previous BSIF div dates are random to say the least.[link]
Pay dates? Can anyone tell me when the next pay dates are for Bluefield please?Yours Gratefully vb6
Re: Annual Results Panels loose efficiency over time and do not necessarily need to be replaced after 25 years. It depends on panel type and UV exposure. In the UK with the lower exposure to UV and with the use of latest panel technology panel efficiency could reduce by as little as 0.2% per year. After 25 years many panel manufacturers guarantee at least 80% efficiency under normal use. Would agree though that it would be prudent in company accounts to make some provision for depreciation although over time this could result in a one off exceptional profit if too prudent. Don't know how this might affect tax position or green energy subsidies. No doubt the Bluefield bean counters know what they are doing.Regar
Annual Results Could someone please indicate where provision is made for depreciation? (new panels need to be fitted after 25 years?)
No subsidies, no bother The furure looks bright for solar. Can't see any negatives in the medium - long term. [link]
Finals Another solid set of numbers which have exceeded the market's expectations. Nice to see the bio-diversity programmes and sheep grazing pilots which look like a win win all round. Add in some hives to utilise the wild flower orchards and we can add organic honey to the books. I'm considering moving my daughters cash JISAs into stocks and shares and can't really see a reason not to invest them fully in BSIF for the next 10 years or so. Eco friendly, stable income, high yield and relatively risk free.
Re: 24.3% of the grid It may be a decent holding...but have just had to take a very circuitous route to get them toa) have the correct contact details on their website...NOT goodb) have appropriate and timely updates to financial calendar on their website...(final divi paid q2 was all it said when had actually already been declared and gone XD)....particularly important as pay dates are irregular.
24.3% of the grid [link] is great news and can only help with the perception of alternative green energy being a bit fluffy. Solar is definitely the future and why I'm considering adding to my holding.Chuck in the 7p divi and the recent capital growth and BSIF is proving to be a shining light in my ISA portfolio.
Good safe income Bought in here today, looks good for some nice safe income.I am not expecting this to be an exciting company but a reliable one.
Re: I'm in Yes the dividend pay-out this week was a pleasant surprise - a no brainer for topping up for those seeking income.
Re: I'm in Given the plummeting yields available on all other investments I'm quite sure these will be trading over 110p in the coming months. IMHO. Add in the 7.07p dividend and these seem like a decent place to hold some cash for the foreseeable..
Maverick buy This stock has been added to the portfolio at maverickmoneyuk.c
I'm in I bought a few BSIF shares yesterday. First tranche. Might double-up on any significant pullback but think that's unlikely due to the yield of just over 7%. Much better than cash deposit rates and relatively low risk IMHO.

Re: Opinions BSIF are moving to quarterly dividends with the first quarterly declaration expected in April 2015. Do not expect much in the way of capital growth as the solar panels have a life of around 25 years and the assets will slowly be written down. There may of course be a replacement cost eventually and this could be by way of a rights issue or placing of shares in the very distant future. And who knows what advance will be made of the next 25 years. Also with the way planning is going for solar farms what value would you put on land that already has an established right? And over 25 years how are energy prices going to move? All a bit up in the air really but as long as they yield what they are forecasting over the next 25 years then it has to be better than an annuity and there will be some capital left at the end of this period even if it is only land value.Regar
