steady Well after a torrid few weeks, the mining sector seems more settled.
Re: Fresnillo EPS.. I hope that you and strapuk are both reinvesting your dividends - that is the real way to grow your asset. So often we see an overreaction when the news turns sour, and I think this is what we are experiencing now. Added to which, this time of year is always bad. So hang in there - the annual pattern is that markets rise in December/January. This year may be the bad one, but I think it will come good.
Re: Fresnillo EPS.. i'm waiting for a while to see how it goes - as I said I wouldn't be surprised to see a big drop even from here.
Re: Fresnillo EPS.. Well I have a 10 year time frame and dripping in £500 a month in the old ISA. Started by buying a chunk in Mar-14, and have been following the price down virtually ever since. My question is simple - is my 10 year time frame too short?!? Just worked out that I'm overall down 52% current value v total cost!! Almost seems too late to quit the drip feed now - but then if I do quit and we start a gradual rise, I'll be kicking myself - now what's that again about pound-cost-averaging?Anyone think I'm mad, or am I doing the right thing?! I haven't a clue!
Fresnillo EPS.. Fresnillo EPS From over 100 to 14p and going down. Their PE is still 40 - I remember the bottom of the last cyvle shares like this had P/E of 6-10 and yields on the upward cycle of 10-12%. This means a price of about 150 for Fresnillo.Just be prepared for BRWM SP of 70-80p over the next 2 years. I'm sticking with what I have got for the time being. Hope I'm wrong. IP
Greed and Fear... ..oh go on then... I bought a few more with the dividend payment..
Out of the wood? ..I hope so, but early to be too confident..250p will convince me,but not enough to buy more now or then..I'm holding these long-term,selling at 350p onwards, and out at 800p finally..maybe years hence..I'm a little too old to be in for another cycle after that.
Stupid mistake re APPLE leader. Apologies I of course meant to say Tim Cooke the current Apple Chief who made a statement re Apple's experience in China. Apologies for being stupid and saying Steve Jobs in my last comment.
BHP Now I am certainly not the one to follow in this share but I have just listened to an interview with the CEO of BHP who, like Steve Jobs yesterday, is remarkably bullish about what is happening in China. It sound incredible given what we have seen and indeed BHP's own profit performance but he stated that we are in an adjustment phase and that demand definitely has not fallen off a cliff. I cant think why such eminent business leaders would lie and if one accepts they are not we could just be seeing the best buying opportunities for commodities in a lifetime. Of course I have bought yet more shares and I will probably be wrong again but one day I wont be!
Re: ...the low.. ...I have bought a few more..to make a bit short term if they have bottomed, but that has been my strategy all the way down to where the price is now..Long term (a few? years hence ) I will no doubt be regretting selling these smallish bundles as they turnprofitable...instead of holding for 3 or 4 or more times the price they are now. Xstar
Re: ...the low.. " I'm glad someone else posted that. I have 155 as a worst case low and 205 as a possibly-maybe figure " The fact that today has closed at 205 (mid price) gives me no pleasure (other than feeling *slightly* chuffed that I called it right!) Why did I buy in at 290? What a ***ing plank! The problem now is that 155 'might' be on the cards. I say 'might' because this could be the bottom, although that sounds familiar (haha!) Good luck to all of us. Long term this should be OK but short term, erm...
Re: Yet another low.... buy 195 IMHO - I'm buying.
Re: Yet another low.... Its funny how the brain works - if this goes sub 200 it will be a screaming buy IMHO. I'm going to wait for 190s and put a big wadge in here. The divi is great and yes it will suffer. But when this comes back it will give massive capital gains plus 10% divi. IP.
Re: Yet another low.... There's no doubt, taking the long term view that the upside potential of this far outweighs the downside.Bit surprised today when I saw all the biggest risers were miners, yet this still managed to drop further.
Yet another low.... A month or so ago I would have been comfortable adding to my lot at the current level of c220p. However, the way things have turned out recently, with the mess in China and the massive downtturn in the mining sector, I will not even be comfortable with a price below 200p. It goes without saying that I rue the day I started investing in this share. It has largely been a disappointment ever since. Still, I will not sell as it has way past that point and will hold out for a recovery, probably by 2017.
