Re: Yield? "The information sheet on ii is showing a yield of 11.35% for this. That seems very high. Can anyone confirm if this is corrrect, and how it compares with the historic yield?"If you had scrolled down the Fundamentals page you could have answered the question yourself - the dividend rose annually to 2011 & then it's stayed at the same level. The yield obviously varies with share price - as has been pointed out. I don't think there is any doubt the dividend will be cut - this Trust's dividend comes from what it receives in dividend from the shares it owns; and mining companies are cutting their dividends. Halving it may still be optimistic, There was a good discussion on Bloomberg this morning about mineral prices and miners, but I only caught the end of it. Did anyone see it. The only comfort at the moment is the world needs minerals - we're not going to stop building cars or using electrical cable any time soon. The mining industry is in a giant slump but at some point it will come out of it. Let's just hope the fund managers are on the ball enough to back the winners.

Re: Yield? The weekend press suggested that mining companies are not doing too well, and will be lowering their dividends. Even if the yield goes down to 6, its still quite good.

Re: Yield? It's only because the SP keeps tumbling so the yield is looking so high. It's unsustainable and will no doubt be reduced. Historically it's been around the 4/5% level so imo it would probably be halved at the very least. Expect more pain with the significant losses recorded today and dividend slashed by Anglo.

Re: Entry point? Be extremely careful not to get carried away with your allocation to this as the dividend could halve and more. If your tempted, then drip feed your capital in over several months. Small, sensible nibbles.

Re: Entry point? I have invested 3% of my portfolio into this fund this week at 198p. The dividends are certainly enticing, but a large slice of this fund is invested in Biliton so the dividend has the potential to be reduced. How much lower can commodities go?Next year as cost cutting and mine closures occur, it should result in leaner companies and higher share prices. I hope so anyway.

Entry point? I'm having a first look at this one and notice the charts point to the price being approximately the same as the low point of 2009. This seems to be a pretty good entry point for a five-year play. Any thoughts?

Sitting on Support of 2.05 Hi All,I have included a 10 yr monthly chart with shows not much long term supports to find left. The 2008 low touched 1.77 and the current supports of 2.05, 1.90 in my mind about to be tested again.[link] am wondering whether starting a position if we see the 1.90 ara & 1.77 again although you have to be happy with adding another negative cloud sector to your portfolio ie oil sector, oil services and banks.GLTA

Re: Future of Mining? I think the bond market might be the killer for some of these mining companies. Even the big comps have only a couple of steps above junk rating. If we have a bond market crash which some people say is likely in the junk bond market - then the knock on effect to current BB or even BBB could be substantial. This will mean that over leveraged miners would need to sell assets in fire sale conditions. Look to those companies who have just completed sales to reduce debt - these guys are ahead of the game. The market is aware of this and some of this is in the price. However, the bond shock could be a lot worse than anticipated. I personally have invested in some no/low debt and producing mining companies and will top up here nearer the end of the down cycle in commodity prices.

Future of Mining? Hi All,This trust has been falling in value since 2011. It has somewhat reached price close to seen back in 2008. Is there more pain to come or the commodities have gone through the worst and we are likely to see a slow recovery?Vic
