Re: Amount back BUBSeem to remember something along those lines but cannot find it in the HMRC online guide - do you have a link to follow ?CheersFD
Re: Amount back The disposal of a major division of a company does give rise to a tax free event I can assure you. The issue is how the distribution is taxed in the hands of the shareholder and I am trying to clarify this. Watch this space!
Re: Amount back BUBWhy tax free ? Usually share sales within a company cause a tax event. The profit should be taxable. Still at least 70p a share cashout leaving the rest of the co worth 40p (which is half the value pre announcement) - so fairly valued at present if tax to be paid ?CheersFD
Re: Amount back This WILL be a tax free gain for the company so it should be in a position to distribute at least 100p per share. Therefore the rest of the business is only being valued at just over £3m at the current price of 108p. This is plainly ridiculous for a business with around £27m of sales and a roughly equivalent amount of assets.I would expect the finals due next week to show an improved position for the BIO division so there is no way that the share price is going to stay at this level.BUY, BUY, BUY at last there is some good news!
Amount back The problem is knowing what the company is worth post sale since the part of the business being sold is the one that makes the current profit.. We may receive 100p but not sure if there are tax implications. Probably best to sell now but to repeat, it does depend on what the balance of the company is worth?
Amount back? Excuse the naivety of the question, but what will this mean in practical terms? What will be the anticipated payment to shareholders (pence per share), and will the share price then fall by an equal amount?

Re: Impacting on sp today .... 7.77 % up " follow the money" Oh that will make a nice change - it's been a downhill process in recent times! probably to the point that BQE has now become a bit of a bargain.
Re: Impacting on sp today .... 7.77 % up Yes, Harwood Capital have bought an extra 950,000 shares taking their stake to just short of the critical 30% level beyond which I think they would have to make a bid. Clearly they have some sort of agenda and the rest of us should 'follow the money'.
Impacting on sp today .... 7.77 % up developments, rather than business sales etc ?SAGE
See what you mean, i noticed this line ... "we now have a substantially broader range of prospective customers in the US and Europe who we believe will contact us in the event that they have a microbiological contamination problem" .........No wonder sales are 3% lower than last year !!! Thats what you get if they sit around HOPING the phone will ring !!!AND that is in an Ebola year !! .... Mein Gott !! .... hope we get a sales team for Christmas ...SAGE
Re: More info See today's interim statement - positively boring!
Re: More info ok, thanks Vecta, agreed. When is the briefing ?SAGE
Re: More info Sage, it's an independant company with one main site where they design, manufacture and market their systems. They also have sales and support centres around the world. Can't believe the sp is falling to these levels with the Ebola crisis still very threatening! Hopefully we will hear some good news in the forthcoming briefing.Vekta
