Re: $1.2bn short against, Santander! Less than 1% of the shares are shorted, a really small proportion - compared, for example, with 1.4% of Bank of America, and over 10% for real dogs like Provident Financial and Debenhams.
Re: $1.2bn short against, Santander! Not a problem for me, I have collected a huge amount of divis over the years with this bank- right back to the IPO.At some point they will have to buy the shares back and an opp to buy more shares cheaper if driven a lot lower. You really need to get out more ,HU.

Re: Spain´s huge pension problem Very interesting article. In the past I have worked in Spain and contributed to their social security system. Although the pension is extremely generous, I actually prefer how they run the rest of their welfare / benefits payments as its based on contributions. People that have paid there stamp get looked after with good healthcare, pension provision and good (though limited unemployment benefits. Those that have contributed nothing.....get nothing. I prefer the Spanish system.D.L.

5.7 ? I know that III is going through a rough patch at the moment but is nobody checking the share prices? -495.2 cannot be correct.. If it was I would be selling my gold bars to buy two shed loads. Forget Catalonia, Santander is not in Catalonia..
Catalonia Wouldn't touch these with a barge pole. Catalonia politics is gonna kick off big time during the December elections. Uncertainty never a good friend for share prices.

Re: Charging on my S&S Isa Re: Big Drop TodayGoodstandingInteractive Investor client Hi, the 0.35% fee is, as you correctly state based upon the value of funds held on the Santander platform, an online system that allows you to transact on your investment as you would your internet banking account. In 2016 Santander started migrating customers onto the platform as a move to the digital world, the fee you mention was previously part of the ongoing charges that were paid within the fund, however once you were migrated across, the ongoing charges were reduced by a similar amount meaning that approx 95% of Santander investment customers are now paying the same, or less in fees than they previously were. All communication has been sent out and Im surprised youve not seen it as when the fee comes out, you should receive a further contract note illustrating the fees paid. I would suggest you make sure your address is correct with them.I hope this helps.

Spanish shares & Tax Greetings,I am interested in holding Spanish shares direct but I have not taken the plunge yet as I am unsure about the bureaucracy of doing this.Do Santander shareholders have to complete a 210 form and present it to the Spanish tax authorities? It seams a pain when you consider it is very easy to buy/sell/hold Us shares. Thanks, D.L.
Charging on my S&S Isa Just studied my wife's Santander stocks and shares ISA statement and see a platform service fee which seems to have crept in the last year. She only pays in £50 per month but the fee is £45 twice a year. That really cuts into her buying power. Its £90 per year on a £600 spend- that's 15%!!!!But on investigation a polite young man on the helpline tells me charges are not based on purchase of units. He says it never was but is an interest rate charged on the total value of the existing fund at 0.35% for funds under £50k value. 0.20% then up to £500kDoes that mean they are now charging me interest on my investment in them after charging me for 30 years for buying it??Have they always? - I never recall such a fee in the past. Am I missing something here, did they always charge on the fund value but I never realised? or is this a money grab by Santander?
