recent fake news BKY is a constituent of both the Geiger Counter NPV and the Global X Uranium ETF. Given the size of the holdings ( both around the 3.5% mark) and the the due diligence fund managers need to demonstrate when investing in companies its inconceivable that both of these fund managers have been taken in by some sinister plot conceived by the company to mislead investors. Fund managers seek independant evidence of the condition and performance of a company before investing. To me this amounts to no more that a "hard cheese" story from someone entrenched in a strange view that somehow this mining operation will be bad for the local community, Spain and the EU. Pity that the spot price has fallen back a bit of late although I think this will be short lived - particularly as Greenpeace have been dealt a severe beating in Japan as the Takahama reactors get the go ahead to restart, Hinkley point construction gets the go ahead in the UK and all things Nuclear are starting to loosen up in the USA. The expected supply squeeze could to come quicker than predicted - all good news for BKY
Re: Contacted company Here is the full text from the company received just now, responding to my enquiry as to their reaction to the article on this board posted yesterday evening. They have confirmed it is OK to re post here.DYOR etc.,Gus.---------- ---------- This is normal administrative procedure. The Ministry has not suspended the authorisation, only the term to grant the permit. This is quite normal when the principal body (Ministry of Industry) must wait to a report from an external body. We are continuing construction of the Salamanca project which will employ 450 people on site and will create a further over 2000 jobs in a region badly hit by unemployment especially amongst its youth. With strong EU support for this important project for the security of clean energy supply we continue to work closely with all regulatory bodies including the Nuclear Safety Council. We are committed to the highest standards of environmental excellence and are planting over 30,000 oak trees. We are delighted with and appreciative of the ongoing government and local support for this project which is set to rejuvenate the community.
Re: Contacted company I did the same thing and have received a reply from Katie Ryall at the company. I am just asking them to confirm it is OK to reproduce the text of their reply here, but the gist of the response is quite reassuring and in essence says that while there is a delay in the formal process, operations on the Salamanca facility are continuing as scheduled.Best,Gus.
Contacted company Du to Retortillos posts I have emailed the company for clarification. If true then a RNS should have been put out.I will post reply when I receive it

Re: Government suspends 'indefinitely' Berkeley has kept this secret today has been known in Spain. Corruption in Spain had also kept it secret until today[link]
Government suspends 'indefinitely' The Government suspends 'indefinitely' the works in the Retortillo mineUntil the Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) issues a mandatory report. The Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda has suspended the procedure of authorization of the construction of the plant of Retortillo (Salamanca) "of indefinite character" until the Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) issues a mandatory report. So the Government has replied in writing to a parliamentary question from the deputy of the United We Can-En-Com-Podem-En Mare, Juan López de Uralde, regarding the construction of the aforementioned plant, considered by the regulatory body " ".However, López de Uralde explained to Europa Press that the holding company, Berkeley Minera, despite the suspension, has "continued with its plans", which includes "the harvesting of hundreds of centenarian oaks in the place of its construction ". Therefore, it demands the Government "the immediate stoppage of all the works that Berkeley is doing in the area of Retortillo.According to CSN sources told Europa Press, the plenary established on 8 July 2015 a set of limits and conditions on this request for prior authorization of the facility to manufacture uranium concentrates in the aforementioned salt mine. For example, among these limits and conditions for this installation it was established that it would be obligatory to have new authorizations from the then Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism in case it intends to treat minerals from other fields in the Retortillo factory. In addition, the company was required to carry out a safety study, which described the final design of the dedicated structures for the collection, treatment and escape routes of effluents from the entire site and which are expected to be released to the environment, together with the established means For monitoring and control.Another condition for Berkeley Minera was that it should submit within one month a final edition of the Pre-operational Environmental Radiological Surveillance Plan, which must be carried out for at least one year prior to the start of mining activities.Precisely, these results will have to be sent to the CSN for their appreciation and between the limits establishes that it will not be possible to carry out "previously no activity that significantly alter the natural radiological fund of the site".With respect to the monitoring plan, the miner will have to incorporate an "up-to-date" review of the Radiological Analytical Study that includes "real data" of the final project in its construction authorization application - now indefinitely suspended by the Ministry - Account all technical aspects of the Technical Complementary Instruction (ITC) that the CSN will send to the company for this purpose.According to the CSN plenary, once the prior authorization has been granted, the owner may request the construction authorization, but for this he must submit the documentation set out in Article 17 of the Nuclear and Radioactive Facilities Regulation (RINR) - this is common To all facilities - as well as conform to the limits and conditions established.Once these limits and conditions were agreed upon, the proposal of the technical direction of radiological protection was agreed with the favorable votes of the president and the directors Rosario Velasco, Fernando Castelló and Antonio Gurguí and with the abstention "for ethical reasons" of the counselor Cristina Narbonne.Subsequently and according to the parliamentary response, this authorization authorized Berkeley Minera Spain to request authorization for the construction of the facility on December 4, 2015.When presenting the documentation, the Ministry requested the company to correct the deficiencies of the presented and "not being contributed by the interested party," the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda proceeded to file the file on June 27, 2016.Two months later, on September 7,
Re: Suspended since January Ask berkeley she does not tell the truth the works are totally stopped by order of the government. I am a living witness in Retortillo. Today has been known because the works were stopped. This news is from the newspaper today. The Government suspends 'indefinitely' the works in the Retortillo mine[link]
Re: Suspended since January Why are you posting old news what year was that from??Hes some news from March 2017[link]
Suspended since January The permit for a key infrastructure of the uranium mine in Salamanca has been suspended since JanuaryEnergy paralyzed the authorization process for the concentrates plant until having a report of the Nuclear Safety Council: can take two yearsThe suspension was signed on January 18 and since then, mining company Berkeley has continued with its work on the groundThe Ministry says that it does not know that there is a lawsuit against the project in the National Court although the State Attorney's Office claimed to be inadmissibleThe suspension was signed on January 18 and since then, mining company Berkeley has continued with its work on the groundThe Ministry says that it does not know that there is a lawsuit against the project in the National Court although the State Attorney's Office claimed to be inadmissibleThe plant is considered a first level radioactive facility and therefore requires a report from the Nuclear Safety Council (CSN). Energía asked the CSN on 13 October and the Council explained that "considering the experience" the document could take two years. The Ministry then decided to halt the project until it had that report. In the parliamentary response that the newspaper has been able to see, the Government adds that since the CSN this term has been indicated due to the "complexity of the documentation provided" and possible "requests for additional information" to the incumbent. In fact, Berkeley was asked to remedy "the shortcomings" of his first request for definitive authorization which he did not do so the file was filed on June 27, 2016. Only two months later, the Australian miner submitted a new request. He is not aware of the lawsuit but recursThe deputy of Equo author of the question, Juantxo López de Uralde, considers that the company has followed "a policy of consummate facts, putting the accelerator and cutting the oaks knowing that the procedure is paralyzed."The mine project in Retortillo is being investigated by public prosecutors in Salamanca and the Environment for carrying out works without permission and for alleged damages to areas with environmental protection of the Natura 2000 network. In addition, the administrative process is being investigated by the Audiencia National. Regarding the latter, the Government does not take notice when indicating in its letter to the Congress that "in the Directorate General of Energy Policy there is no such claim."The truth is that the Ministry did know this lawsuit. So much so that the State Attorney's Office "on behalf of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism" forwarded allegations to the Audiencia in which it reported that it had been notified on October 27, 2016 and in which it requested the inadmissibility of the appeal.[link]
Re: Uranium This share is down nearly 10% from the time I suggested it was a sell. In share dealing timing is always the essence and, as I have said before, the time to buy is when the company moves into profit. Until then it is merely a speculative gamble.
Uranium Can't think of a better stock to play the inevitable Uranium price rise....Major utility contracts expiring in 2018, just when BKY is about to start production. Expecting big things from this stock over the next couple of years, with short term catalysts being progress in mine construction and further offtake agreements. Also, only just starting to rise from a technical low point IMO DYOR
