Re: Sold Out Decided to switch from BG yesterday afternoon to RDSB and be done with it with all.Good luck to everyone !!!
Re: Timetable Damp,"I actually had my eye on HSBC."Whatever you do, don't change your mind about which bank you want and go for STAN instead, m8. I once went to an RIT Capital Partners AGM where Bill Winters, the STAN CEO, was a NED. He chust sat there like Kaw Liga the wooden Indian and didn't say a word. Don't rate the man ... at all. STAN would of done better to have hired Bernie or Mike Winters, my humble.[link] on the flybridge
Re: Timetable that is surely a price worth paying for the sight of the pleasure on Mrs DS's face as she sets out for Harvey Nicholls with those shopping bags under arm?========== ==You obviously haven't encountered Mrs DS I was actually had my eye on HSBC. But looking at the chart trend I'm not sure I need to do anything in hast
Re: Timetable Damp,"I don't like the ideal of having to wait up to 2 weeks after the 'Effective date' (15/02/2015) for my cashback."You could always sell your BG tomorrow, m8, give £3.83 to Mrs DS on Monday when it settles, and buy Shell tomorrow with the other £6.30 odd. You shouldn't be in much worse a position than if you chust sit back and wait for your klebbies and scheme shares until the end of the month. A bit of stamp duty (which I assume those who sit back and relax won't have to pay) and a bit of spread and commission, but that is surely a price worth paying for the sight of the pleasure on Mrs DS's face as she sets out for Harvey Nicholls with those shopping bags under arm?LKH on the flybridge
Timetable Just thought I would tag a link to the proposed timetable, for those of us who are prone to forgetfulness[link] don't like the ideal of having to wait up to 2 weeks after the 'Effective date' (15/02/2015) for my cashback. Mrs DS has her shopping bags by the door and is not known for her patience !
Re: Options Eadwig, thanks for your helpful contribution, that might explain the one-time connection with Lloyds.I will continue the chase.
Re: Sold Out <<It recorded 100.1 mph at 8.00pm and then promptly blew up.>>More interesting than hearing about a ten quid profit on arbitrage.I wonder if that is covered under warranty or does the Sale of Goods Act have a sub Act of God clause too!!
Re: Schedule I contacted the BG share help line who stated that these prices were example prices only to demonstrate the calculation and the price of exchange will not be set until the 15 February as indicated in the Timetable. ========== ===Well that sounds very sensible. And I hope it is right. But it does run contradictory to earlier indications that posters on this bb had received.I'm increasingly inclined to put this question of share/cash options on the too difficult/ can't be ars ed pile and go for the vanilla default option. That's probably what we will all get anyway +/- a couple of shares and one morning of panic or exuberance will wipe out the perceived benefits anyway.
Re: Schedule Having to have to make a decision about the mix and match by 5pm today and finding it hard to accept that the exchange price was to be 1463 for shell A and 1469 for shell B I contacted the BG share help line who stated that these prices were example prices only to demonstrate the calculation and the price of exchange will not be set until the 15 February as indicated in the Timetable. Hope this helps anyone considering their options .Knownought.
Re: Sold Out SP.Got an all singing all dancing weather station for my Christmas. It recorded 100.1 mph at 8.00pm and then promptly blew up.Spectacular sight.Where my Wind monitoring turbine went is anybody's guess.Just musing.Baron.
Re: Sold Out Thanks for the feedback LKH. Probably go for default option Storm Henry was blowing last night. Firth of Firth one mile behind me.Just now chg | %BG 1,019.00 -2.72%RDSB 1,438.50 -4.13%Not a great day on stock market.
Re: Sold Out I must admit that I have been contemplating selling up my BG shares. The closing of the arbitrage gap and the recent strengthening of Oilies has made it tempting.I held back because I thought it would be nice to pick up the divi and bed in for the long term. But I'm now questioning if that is a flawed strategy. In a Bear market the impact of a share going ex div seems to be more pronounced and prolonged than in more bullish times. Also the reaction to the BP results and divi security have got me worrying......again !!
Re: Sold Out Spain,"Do I buy BG again if price is right?"Tough call, m8. The BG discount is currently 0.4%, so effectively there's no difference to speak of between buying BG and buying Shell directly. You've obviously made your decision and I certainly wouldn't criticise it.BG is, for you for the next week (until 9 Feb), slightly "safer" than Shell because of that chunk of fixed cash that you will get later in February. But if Shell rises sharply during the week, for whatever reason, you would have done better to switch into Shell this morning, because the £3.83 cash will be a drag rather than a wrap around the arm.Everything is complicated by the fact that, quite possibly, Shell will be trying to keep its share price close to the ShellA/ShellB range which will maximise the default option and minimise the opportunity for arbitrageurs to play silly bug gers.BP's results further complicate the issue. I haven't yet looked at them in detail but my ears pricked up when I heard on the wireless that much of their big reported loss stems from a write down of their oil/gas reserves. That is a little worrying for Shell because, if they do likewise (almost certain) their balance sheet, which is about to pick up the BG assets, will be hit once by the current Shell reserves and again by whatever write down BG is obliged to take.Although Shell's expanded balance sheet can take the strain (I would have thought) it'll raise more concerns about the long term sustainability of the divi.Personally I'm continuing to keep an open mind about what to do with my £3.83 and will stay in BG until the very last minute but I'm coming round to the view that the £3.83 will not go into Shell.Interesting times!LKH on the flybridge

Re: Sold Out LKH, got my BG wad back plus Vodafone profit as sold out. Do I buy BG again if price is right?. I am with IWEB (Halifax) brokers and their election cutoff is 09 FEB 2016 23:59 BP results tomorrow and Shell on Thursday should be interesting !
