BCN RNS & REM RNS What you don't get on the BCN RNS, a bit more of an explanation on the REM RNS, as follows:Kiran Morzaria, the Chief Executive Officer of REM, commented: "I have been pleased to serve on the board of Bacanora Minerals and be part of the development of the Sonora lithium project. I look forward to seeing the progress as Sonora advances through development, construction and planned commissioning and production in 2019. REM's diverse lithium portfolio is advancing up the value curve, and stepping down from my Non-Executive role at Bacanora, will allow me to further focus on the additional workload associated with our active investment approach in what we believe will be a busy year.We have identified assets that we believe have strategic cost advantages in the current lithium market. I will look to leverage our resources, inclusive our access to key marketing, political and industry contacts to support management in advancing these projects and delivering high rates of return on our investments."YB

numis Numis Securities has totted up the pluses and minuses of yesterday’s update from Bacanora Minerals Ltd (LON:BCN, CVE:BCN) and called it about even.Industry-wide cost increases in reagents and energy are likely to result in higher operating costs; however, this is more than offset by recent increases in battery grade lithium carbonate prices, with producer Orocobre reporting current term prices levels of US$9,000-10,000 a tonne, against the US$6,000 a tonne used in the March pre-feasibility study, Numis notes. The broker has updated its estimates for Bacanora, increasing its long-term lithium carbonate price assumption to US$7,700 a tonne from US$6.500 a tonne, its operating expenditure assumptions by a fifth, and its initial stage 1 capital expenditure estimate for Bacanora’s Sonora lithium project to US$300mln from US$240mln.The net result? The net asset value (NAV) per share remains the same and because the target price is based on NAV, so does the target price of 130p.Numis was encouraged by news that negotiations for battery grade lithium carbonate offtake are advanced with potential Asian partners.“We view this as an important endorsement for Sonora as it evidences that potential customers are comfortable with compatibility of the project's lithium carbonate for battery applications. It also shows that offtake customers are comfortable with BCN's flow sheet and we add that Bacanora's pilot plant has produced battery grade lithium carbonate for six months,” Numis said.Guidance for completion of the banking feasibility study is now summer 2017, rather than late in the first quarter, as was previously indicated. This is likely to be one of the major share price catalysts, along with further offtake news.“With lithium prices showing strong growth, Bacanora is one of the most advanced stage developers and should benefit from a shorter lead time to production than brine based projects,” the broker concluded.

What is the point..... of downright obscure, glib messages like today's RNS? That is, if it is unclear. I read the message and instantly thought that it was positive. So why has the sp dropped over 7%?I have read all of your posts and it would seem that BCN is going to have a partner and not a customer. If the idea of the RNS was to confuse the market, it has failed. But why does BCN need to do this? If it is to hide the fact that they will need a placement in order to achieve production of 17,500 tonnes of lithium then it has failed again. Come on BCN, cut out the obfuscation and tell it like it is. Shareholders will have more patience if you are honest. Luckily, I am not a shareholder currently but I have been in the past. It looks like a buying opportunity again but I am going to sit on my hands until matters become clearer. Casa.

Re: Project update Does anyone know the rationale behind carbonate over hydroxide? Seemingly lithium hydroxide will be the cathode material of choice for the mass producers?

Re: Double message ... hiding one behind the... um i think the advanced talks bit are a clue

sage in the hills 20 Dec 2016

Double message ... hiding one behind the other Its easy to have talks with anybody ..... hardly a news busting development ....Think that was only used to hide the delay news, and as you say, could lead to a diluting fund raise....... they must think we are really dumb ..... thats the sad bit .SAGE
