BAE Systems at risk of missing target [link] Systems is at risk of missing its target of modest earnings growth this year as the worlds third biggest defence contractor struggles to clinch orders for fighter jets and warships.Games
Analysis report on BAE Systems From a pure fundamentals perspective looking interesting... bit of value.. growth.. 4% dividend to book! [link]
Re: All is not roses Nothing new in that: check-out the AGM statement. Can't say that I really want to be out of BA. with the uncertainty caused by an expansive Russia, and China - militarily speaking.I rather feel that Russia is coming to crunch point: its economy continues to suffer, along with its people, and the falling oil price isn't helping. Take a look at its currency: its falling steadily, and the stockmarkets could be about to turn down again. How's Putin going to react? Traditionally, such leaders have created diversions by creating conflicts. Well he's already done that, but the job's only half done. He's been quiet lately, other than a small land grab in Ossetia/Georgia, and stationing bombers in Crimea.Watch this space.

Anyone want a job? BAE Systems will have to limit its search for a new chief executive to a British national after the government indicated it was against relaxing its ban on a foreigner running the UKs premier defence company. The defence giant which builds Eurofighter Typhoons and Astute submarines and, for the United States, armoured vehicles and parts of the F-35 fighter, is scanning the horizon to find a successor to Ian King, its chief executive since 2008, who, at 59, is approaching retirement age. - The Times - See more at: [link]
UBS From ADVFN:"UBS upgraded BAE Systems to 'buy' from 'neutral' but cut the price target to 510p from 540p.It said the recent weakness in the BAE share price was caused by uncertainty around the future of the Williamstown shipyard and the Eurofighter Typhoon programme, as well as the pending Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR)."
Re: Big projects fuel UK defence illu... The share price is up more than 1.25 % today so that says it all.
Re: Big projects fuel UK defence illusion I didn't think that Govt will take much notice of this. So I topped up this morning. Loks like it was a good decision.Lagolis
Big projects fuel UK defence ‘illusion’ [link] study by Civitas recommended the Ministry of Defence to abandon relationships with prime contractor defence companies such as BAE, which it says are no longer fit for purpose and result in massively unnecessary costs by pushing the government into commissioning expensive and unnecessary long-term projects.>>>> Not a great message for BAE shareholders Games
Re: SP drop Agreed GamesGSK and UNLV are a good bet, I have bothTW, CRST MSLH Hansteen are all steadily climbing too(A few long shots, which might go northwards JLP CZA IGASJust for some roller coaster action)GLAKC
Re: SP drop "Where do I put the funds I sold?"Cash won't hurt but it's always annoying not to earn an income on idle dosh!eBay is a good option right now or Unilever on dips if you haven't already got it. GSK is a reasonable bet given it's recent underperformance. Then there is ITV although it's had a stellar run of late.Games
Re: SP drop ShovelI think he means BootsI assume they will need lots of bandages and pharmaceutical bitsThen BAe can sell them Brimstone / Hellfire missiles to protect the shopLogical when you think about itKC (back in profit at last)
Re: SP drop I don't think BAE make boots!
Re: SP drop As little or no headway is being made against IS in either Syria, Iraq, Yemen and just about everywhere in the Middle East and Russia growling in Putin's hands; I sense, despite the cuts globally in defence spending due to the recession, BAE are a pretty safe bet. Recent talk is to put boots on the ground too.I'm up over 30% and holding steady; but agree, the figures don't adequately support the current sp. Which suggests I'm not alone in thinking defence spending is probably going to go up in the years ahead, not down..
Re: SP drop Morning allGames, yes - agreed the numbers look grimI hope I am a pragmatic investor, I cannot feel sentimental about BAe having working for them 3 times. However I do feel some loyalty to themBAe has been a good stock for many years (have held them since 2003) I'm still in profitWhere do I put the funds I sold? Loads of stocks are looking good right nowGLAKC
