Re Avanti's future. The message below is from the GOV.UK site and would seems to indicate that the Governements Universal Services Commitment obligation is to help to provide a satellite service direct to the end user via a subsidy towards the cost of the satellite dish and its installation. i.e. not via miles of copper to the home as suggested by Sidevalve. Surely a good initiative which deserves success and the only criticism is that it was not initiated some years ago when there was a real need in rural areas and satellite services were available.
Re Avanti's futere: The scheme to deliver the 2 Mbps Universal Service Commitment (USC) is operated by a partnership between DCMS, local bodies, BT, a number of satellite broadband retail service providers, and a number of satellite broadband platform providers. The initiative will be administered by local authorities who will provide a code to eligible homes and businesses upon request. They can use the code with one of a selected number of retail service providers to obtain a subsidised satellite broadband service, including a free satellite dish and installation in most cases. The code does not have a specific fixed value, but when used to obtain a satellite broadband service from one of the selected retail service providers, the use of the code will reduce the total cost (i.e. installation and commissioning costs plus 12 monthly subscriptions) by around £350.
Anyone know the date in November for Q1 trading update?
Re: AVN Stream Log Re Predictions: expecting a strong set of results and future prospects statement. Decent contracts gains recently, final financing in place and mast would have had full access to business insight prior to investment decision. End of week SP around 245 - 248 pence in my view. Hoping for 310p by end December 2015. Keep the faith all.
Re: Predictions
Downward movement in price with 2 good news stories today. I'm getting nervous about results next week. Market is indicating they might not be as strong as we hope.
Feel Friday's movement had more to do with the Inmarsat story than any pending news. Would love to be proved wrong as I've built up a significant holding over the last 4 years. I'm not expectant of any RNS news prior to full year results in 2 weeks. Here's hoping they provide SP impetus to recognise the real potential and market advantage that Avanti has.
Via Satellite article is significant and especially so the comments re the fill of H1 and H2. Williams does mention that H3 and H4 will BOTH be launched in 2017 which clarifies the situation re launches. It follows that Avanti would be unwilling perhaps to tie up large capacity with Facebook before H3 is launched and whilst present customers need the H1 and H2 capacity to fulfill their needs. Does anyone agree that Facebook is off the agenda for at least 12 months during which time they may wish to find other carriers? Overall I am a long-termer here and now more positive than ever.
Lets assume a EV/EBITDA multiple of 8, so EV of $4bn. Knock off the debt and you get around $25 or 1600p per share. Obviously there are lots of execution issues to get through, but I think this is a reasonable target if the company can execute.
In the interim statement, the company repeated that, in the longer term (presumably with Hylas 4 full), EBITDA would be $500m. Current debt is $520m, and there will be additional debt for Hylas 4 of $125m - so $645m in total. After the placing there are 136.3m shares in issue.
Prominent chartist's view is that Avanti is a Company that suffers very much from being in the sights of bear traders and hedge funds. However now sees upside towards 350 by end December.
