Re: My Small Holding Is it me or has the price ticked up every day since SH handed in his notice?Only joking and miss him already
Re: Volume Last post should have been on the Super Bob's predictive thread
Re: Volume Just to confuse the figures even further (although those are currently realistic), they are based on current production which is envisaged to be increased to by around 38% at Rio, then there is the possibility of Touro production. A bonus would be if the promised grant is ever paid, how many years have we we been promised it now? The wheels of the EU really do work slowly.
Re: Volume Agreed Super Bob & our SP is stronger than it has been for some time, despite not achieving the £8mill shortfall from the recent placing.Perhaps the view now is that we can fund our expansion partly out of strong cash flow (assuming CU stays strong).I doubt whether any serious stakebuilding is occuring as more than 75% of our shares are held by the Oligopoly-however Peel Hunt reiterating their BUY position with a target of 255p may have helped.I am creeping ever closer to break even & I wonder if,when we reach the magic number, I will do what many very stale bulls do-ie bale out ,grateful to get my dosh back, only to see the SP move considerably higher.
Re: What is Atalaya making right now? SBT, makes senseI would divide the forward PE by 0.8 to allow for 20% tax, so forward PE becomes x4.I think a reasonable valuation, just taking account of current PRT volume and relative immaturity of ATYM is x10 (mine life of 14 years, discounted), less x1 to take account of about one year income needed to pay off Astor is x9 Some of the Astor repayment has been earned in 2017 so the x1 deduction is prudentx9 compared to x4 says the value is more than twice the current value implied by the price.
Volume Strong volume for the last few days. Looks like someone is building a LargeHolding. SBT
My Small Holding Yes mayo. I am guilty too.We must be realistic and accept that, as PI`s , we are unimportant in the overall scheme of things. However annoying it is, I can see why the major investors take every opportunity to increase their shareholding ,as with the recent placing and if I were in their shoes i would do the same. These are hard-nosed business people and small timers like us do not feature in their thinking. The overall ownership balance stays the same however. As SH said, they will probably increase their holdings further as opportunities arise but, every time in my recollection that there has been a placing under the current management the opportunity has been there for us to buy on the open market at the same level or below if we wanted to take it.Yes, we have some known issues to overcome in the next year or two, particularly Astor, but I feel that once these are out of the way we will see some decent increase in the SP, if not before. These issues may be causing the SP to "tread water" currently and although off-takes may be of primary importance to the big investors at this time, I believe the major shareholders will want to get their money back on their share investments and receive dividends as soon as they can. That is what big investors expect. The truth is they can afford to wait. We are not necessarily able to be so patient. But patience is what is required and for those of us who stick with it, I feel we will get some rewards in the next few years although not necessarily as much as we dreamt about when we first invested here.Good luck to SH and to all investors, no matter where you put your money.AIMO, of course.
On the positive side! Atalaya get a mention [link]
Re: My small holding SH thank you for sharing your opinion and judgement over the years, I have found you knowledgable and precise, good look with your future investments. I'm going to see where we are at 1st quarter this year and then make a decision. Thanks again
Re: My small holding Mayo - Your assessment is absolutely spot on as far as I'm concerned. In fact, other than (my) buying in here c12 months after you, everything you write I could have penned from my own actions/experience since.Altogether quite scary actually! All the best.B
Re: My small holding I think the problem for SH, myself and many other LTH was that we fell in love with the share and and honestly believed it would multi bag to the extent that we would be free of money worries for the rest of our lives. Prior to buying into Emed/Atalaya I had a very broad portfolio of shares that had delivered excellent returns. Over the years, I was so convinced that Atalaya would deliver massive returns, I started selling my other shares and put most of my eggs in this basket. I gradually lost my enthusiasm for share dealing and watched some of the shares I sold do very well while Atalaya crashed to less than 60p. I started to reduce my holding a few months ago and like SH have recovered a reasonable amount of the money I lost here by investing in other companies. I now have a reasonably broad portfolio again! I still hold a token amount of shares and will almost certainly top up when we see the back of Astor. I honestly believe that those invested here (especially at this price) will do very well, although I doubt we will ever see the sort of returns I envisaged when I bought my first tranche around 2007. I actually enjoy the buzz of buying and selling again and look forward to weekdays at 7am when an rns might be announced for one of my new shares. I appreciate that a lot of holders here have probably been a lot more sensible than me and didnt over invest. Its a lesson Ive had to learn late in life but one thats been well learnt.
Re: My small holding SH Thanks for all your contributions on Atalaya. As a LTH (10 yrs) myself I have enjoyed your comments, insights and research. in fact they have sustained me during the many dark days we have experienced which is part and parcel of being a shareholder in this stock.Personally I am close to breakeven and currently see limited downside (famous last words !) so will be hanging on a bit longer.I have sensed your growing frustration with the stock in your posts, so don't blame you for deciding to get out.If your selling ATYM has put the fun back into investing then you've made the right decision.Good luck with your stockpicking and thanks again for your posts
Re: My small holding Sorry and a bit perturbed that SH, after all his excellent coverage over the years, has decided to exit most of his holding. I agree it is run for the major shareholders, but now that the CU outlook is looking so good medium term they might just decide to rid themselves of the irritation and cost of moaning PIs and mop up our shares and to do that they would have to offer a worthwhile premium. On a p/e of 3 or 4 notionally taxed at 165p I don't see much downside and I find the broker price targets of 235p sensible, so FWLIW I am going to continue to hold. Many thanks SH for all your input over the years on this stock, there may be better opportunities elsewhere as you say but I like low valuations.GLA
Re: My small holding Many thanks for all your years of help here SH, you are right there are some cracking opportunities out there Good luck.
Re: My small holding Sad to see you go SH. Many, many thanks for the updates over the years.I can understand all of your points but I am sticking in there. The Cu price now seems to have settled at $3.20 plus and the numbers we have to date reflect a price of only around $2.70. The equity placing has, in effect, repaired the balance sheet and I believe that the year end report will look very healthy. If I was looking to buy a Cu stock right now this would appeal to me on several levels:- minimal debt- rising profits- pipeline of increased production100% agree that the Astor situation is holding the SP back. I wish they would simply agree a payment plan and start to pay it off.SBT
