First Power! Well that was a bit earlier than I was expecting..."Over the past few days, AHH has been working to establish communications with the turbine and verify that the on-board safety and monitoring systems are operational. Now, working with ABB Limited as the suppliers of the onshore frequency converters, the AHH team has begun the process of powering up the turbine to tune the control system for optimised generation. During this programme, the project is exporting electricity for the first time, using only the tidally driven water flows which rush through the Inner Sound of the Pentland Firth. This follows an extensive onshore turbine testing and commissioning regime prior to final deployment. "Full release:[link] news - until the system is fully tuned, I guess we won't know for sure that it is production as expected in real-life conditions, but presumably they wouldn't make the release unless they were pretty happy it was looking good.Surely must be a boon for the share price going forward?Only slight downside / note of concern would be this:"This turbine is the first of four 1.5MW tidal stream turbines to become operational at the site for the first 6MW phase of a total build out of almost 400MW. Construction for the next 6MW phase, which benefits from a 17 million grant from the EC's NER300 fund, is due to commence next year."I guess the 17m is secured, but presumably this is also the last of the EC grant money that can be expected for future development?....P
Re: Sustained price rise... They have done various deals with eg DEME, Scottish Government taking minority stakes which valued them above the market price, so that has been discount on the price due to uncertainty.First turbines should be going into the water soon which will help de-risk the project. However long-term valuation will depend not only on this first phase, but on the long term prospects for tidal energy.
Sustained price rise... Is this just the ramp up in expectation of first power?I'm not a chartist, but it looks to me like the way is clear to 85p, and if we get beyond that it's almost uncharted territory?Enjoying the recent ride anyway...GLA,P
News Snippet In Scotland, wind energy is pairing up with the worlds largest tidal stream project in a novel bid to secure government subsidies before they expire next year. Lochend Wind Energy entered the partnership with Atlantis Resources in order to share transmission capacity on the local grid, which is constrained and awaits electric-grid upgrades due after 2020 at which point subsidies for onshore wind in the UK will have expired. This agreement allows Lochend to build its wind farm on time and to benefit from its own network connection once grid upgrades are complete after 2020.
AR1500 Assembly Video of the AR1500 turbine assembly at the OREC.[link] team have done a fantastic job and the quality of the assembly is superb.Great to see Lockheed Martin and ARL's partnership coming together so well.
Video on deal This may be of interest [link]
Other projects Atlantis Resources has returned two agreements for lease to the Crown Estate following a strategic internal review of the companys portfolio of tidal energy projects. The agreements were for the Anglesey Skerries site in Wales and the Kyle Rhea site in Scotland. [link] that there was no RNS.
Re: info Interesting, but noticeable that now there is no mention of H1 2016 for generation. The broker estimate of £33m of revenue for 2017 is also a little puzzling, as I don't think that will come from electricity sales only.

Code QOW Watch this one. There will be a nice profit here. P44
Construction progress Announcement that HDD drilling has been completed 'on time' (but no mention of 'on budget').Now the tricky part starts - installing offshore cables before the weather gets too difficult.
NEW ARTICLE: Trends and Targets for 17/07/2015 " ATLANTIS RESOURCES PLCÂ (LSE:ARL) is a share with a horrible series of price movements and can hardly be classed as a vivid mover. That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it, just a broad complaint about boredom. Near term, in the ..."[link]
