Odey rebukes AO World I find myself commenting about Crispin Odey once more. Elsewhere, Ive pointed out his disastrous investment in Plus500 and his attempt to rescue his position when that got into difficulties by throwing more of his investors money at the problem. And Ive pointed out that he has lost a heap of investors cash by being the largest institutional shareholder in Tungsten, which has also collapsed in value.Today in the Sunday Times we read that he has rebuked AO for being arrogant and says the company was overhyped and overpriced at the float. This from the person who, were told, applied to buy all of the shares being offered for sale in that float and who was disappointed to only acquire 6.9% of the company, at a cost of £83m.Ive nothing against Odey but he is paid huge amounts of money to make these kind of decisions. If a bozzo like me managed to spot at the time of the float that AO was (and Im quoting from one of my posts here last year) the most over-hyped, over valued large cap stock (aka heap of sh! ) to have hit the London stock market for quite some time and a shorter's dream how come hes only just come to this realisation, having lost £50m of that investment?he might feel entitled to 'rebuke' a company for turning out to be a dog but he should get an even greater lashing from his investors for failing to do his job and spotting what was hardly a secret - that AO World's price was laughable and its business model unlikely to generate anything like the profits it claimed it would. Hardly rocket science.
Re: ORCHARD GATE correction to your post... I find your posts a little difficult to understand - is English not your first language perhaps. I also find it out that you should post messages on more than one BB the title of which is "no message" and the body of which reads "**". This seems odd to me if not to you.Yes I did think you had bought more shares. Why might that be. Because on a thread which you started entitled "topped" you then wrote "up" and more recently wrote "again".Now excuse me for employing logical deduction but I think most people would interpret your message as being that you (a) topped up and then (b) topped up again. But perhaps words have different meaning to you than they do for most people.
Re: ORCHARD GATE correction to your post... SO you are not sure you have any idea !... I will help you. You posted what you thought i brought at 15.29 Thursday. So i checked my record , Facts not misleading assumptions. You ask why i post , but answer the return question by saying its your "wish to". You do not like when i have time to post a message, and moan when i leave no message. At least that's consistent.Have a little think and ask your question to yourself " is there something wrong with you" ?You are good at making nasty comments you must be fun to be around.
Re: ORCHARD GATE correction to your post 23-... I have no idea what you're talking about. Would you care to explain? There is no sign here that you bought on 15th April last year as I think you're claiming but so what if you did? All I can see is a post a few days later which says "No message **". Curiously you posted the same nothingness on another BB. Is there something wrong with you?
ORCHARD GATE correction to your post 23-7-15 If you are going to state facts/figures when making your point better to make sure there correct.I checked for you.1st buy 15/4/14 @ 247.5 buys 2 sells to date. Not sure posters who don't care if they state incorrect dater should be taken seriously. What is the motive ?
Re: Topped I post because I wish to - it's a discussion board, so if you don't like seeing views that don't accord with your own, go away. We won't miss you.I first posted here suggesting AO was a great share to short (which I had just done) when the shares were 412p. They are now 70% lower. You have posted a series of meaningless bullish comments and have got it wrong. So whose posts do you think have proved the more worthwhile?I also think you're "one of them" - clueless clowns.
Re: Topped OrchardYou post "why post your opinions? "I posted " some have said they like that. "This can be seen.I now judge you are "one of them"Why do you post is the question you only seem to slag company's and inverters off ? I notice you have other traits which match.
Re: Topped "I do not pretend to know anything"So we're agreed on one thing. If you know nothing, why post your opinions?
Re: Topped OrchardYou do get your knickers in a twist.I do not pretend to know anything , i post my deals some have said they like that. I would call what i do gambling , hoping i can beat deposit interest. My experience is that i might of done much better if i hadn't came across this site as i think some are not ordinary folk giving honest opinion, you may or may not be one of them.Do you ever buy anything ?
Re: Topped Great. So you bought way back when the shares were what, over £3, sold half, bought more at c180p and have bought again. In the meantime a series of predictably bullish posts about it holding up well, looking good and "nice rise today", meanwhile sat on a fat loss. And we're meant to take what you say and think seriously?
Re: Topped Again.
NEW ARTICLE: AO World worth 50% more? "Less than a year after floating on the London Stock Exchange, a profits warning in February wiped out over half of LSE:AO.:AO World's value. Shares in the loss-making online white goods retailer are still worth less than half the IPO price of ..."[link]
Re: Monday 20th TX2 ...I agree. The earnings multiple might look right on a biotech looking at cancer cures but for a company that sells washing machines it appears frankly potty. I guess some in the market may still struggle to tell the difference between turnover and earnings. The growth in orders which is running at double that of revenue growth suggests margin is being sacrificed to aggressive pricing to maintain growth That and the admission in the profit warning earlier this year implies the organic growth model is under pressure. If you want to invest in an Etailer that has massive turnover and doesn't make money then you could always buy Amazon....
Re: Monday 20th I think the company has a decent enough business offer with steady growth prospects, providing the housing market remains healthy, albeit on very thin margins but still seems very expensive share!Perhaps if short sellers start to close their positions it will give the share price a bit of boost but I feel looking at it purely as an investment in a retailer it is going to be at best donkey's years before its profits are on a reasonable multiple of its market value.
Monday 20th looks like big late fall near yesterdays close was bottom.
