Brazilian Chickens Watching Bloomberg this morning there was a news item on the side of the screen about Brazilian Chickens, but I didn't take it all in, and a quick www search has not revealed anything. Does anyone know what it was. It was something affecting the Chickens in Brazil, that's all I can recall - which could be good or bad for Anpario depending on exactly what it was.
Re: Forex effect No, I don't understand the recent strength in the sp, though not complaining. I thought the interims were disappointing; and the market didn't do much with the sp for a couple of weeks, then it has slowly started climbing. Up about 20% in 3 weeks. I suppose the exchange rates may take some credit, but most other exporters are down today, so I'm confused. (Nothing new there then.) Maybe there has been a magazine tip somewhere.
Re: Forex effect Nice jump in price today.Anything new today or Mr Market just read Hardboy's post and catching on?hindsight I should of remembered your post and bought more last week argh don't you just hate it when work gets in the way of making some money. (still need to work)
Interims Perhaps a greater concern is that it is clearly more difficult than they thought in gaining product acceptance in the expanded areas and like for like revenue is down 9% and the earnings per share are also down. I think that the company will go sideways, at best, for the year. Tthere will need to be a distinct uptick in 2017 for faith to be maintained
Interims Slightly disappointed that the transition phase seems to be taking longer than I'd hoped for. At this stage I had hoped to see more benefit from the regional offices & the foreign exchange movements. But it's still making a profit and cash balances are rising; which is basically what we want.
Re: Forex effect Hi Bronco,Yes in my portfolio (as well as Treatt) Bioventix too. No doubt things will unravel when results appear.
Re: Forex effect Hi Hardboy,I think this has happened to several small cap exporters. Just looking at my portfolio, I think AMS and Treatt have also been overlooked.
Forex effect Since the £ reduced in value against all major currencies after Brexit, the majority of exporters have seen their share price increase roughly in proportion to the forex effect. Not so Anpario, who earn over 80% of their income from exports. I hope their new sales offices are achieving what we expect of them
Re: IN Just been quoted 243.3 to buy - the spread is too great at present - maybe it will decrease once the dust settles on Brexit, which itself cannot be too detrimental for the sp.Mm.
Re: IN Welcome aboard Bronco. Yes the performance of the direct sales offices they have opened overseas - including a new one in Dubai to serve Africa & The Middle East I notice - will be key to the company's success, and we should see some evidence of this by the time of the finals.
Re: IN The GBP weakness also makes ANP a more attractive acquisition target for US companies...
IN In the outlook section of the annual statement on March 8th, there was no mention of emerging first half problems. referred to now in the Chairman's rather disappointing comments to the AGM. The full year outlook appears OK but based on stronger second half. Brexit should not cause much harm. As we have discussed before, the sales need to grow, and until we see hard evidence of that, I think the shares are a hold at best.
In Perhaps I am missing something, but I can't see why this company has been hammered by Brexit. If I have understood correctly then its earnings come from Brazil, USA and China, so if anything the exchange rates are working in its favour. Price seems fair for me to make a first buy in this company.
Re: Sp Aw, shucks. If I'm not careful I'll start believing my own publicity!Coming within range.Mm.
Re: Sp Wow - I'd better follow your tips. Yesterday it closed at the lowest level sine mid April, you tip it & today it closes at the highest it's been 7 weeks.(Doesn't move that much does it?)
