Re: Opinions Sought The continuing high use of anti-biotics in meat production and growing resistance of bugs like campylobacter might be a good reason for investing in a specialist pro-biotics company.
Opinions Sought I've just come across this company (based in Worksop where I started my working life) & it looks interesting. A lot of fundamentals are good - good record of growing sales & earnings, no debt, good international coverage, nice niche sector, of which they have about 1%b share, which is growing and has barriers to entry. It pays a dividend with a reasonable yield for a small growing business, and not expensive on PE or PBook. It's also got a high level of Institutional Share Holding, which is unusual for an AIM share. So a lot attracts me. I've read through the Discussion board for this year, and note everyone's comments (including the iii articles which all seem to have 90% the same content, and never come to a proper conclusion.) My concerns - Given the level of acquisition over recent years, growth is unsubstantial. The CEO has been with the company for over 5 years, but does not seem to have bought any shares. So what is his opinion of the company as an investment? There is low liquidity/ a high spread; which, as has been pointed out, could be positive for shareholders if it becomes a sought after share. They are obviously investing a lot in Brazil, China & the US, which is eminently sensible, but if they don't achieve early market penetration these operation could soon tip profits into losses. I'd be very interested to hear from people who have been following the share longer than me as to what they think of my observations, particularly the concerns. Thanks in anticipation.
