Re: Telegraph- Questor in @858.88
Telegraph- Questor "Sell Amec as oil services pain to continue: AMEC Foster Wheeler has underlined the difficulties faced by the oil services sector with a 50% slump in the oil price over the last 12 months. The problem for oil services companies, which support explorers and producers but do not typically produce oil and gas themselves, is that they are reliant on spending decisions higher up the food chain. This creates two problems for the industry. The first is that as the oil price has collapsed from $115 per barrel in June last year to about $65, the big explorers have gone into cash preservation mode to protect dividend payments. Amec swallowed up Swiss-based engineer Foster Wheeler in a £1.9 billion deal last year. The deal was supposed to boost the earnings potential of the company, but the slump in the oil price has put paid to that, with earnings now heading in the wrong direction. The cash outlay required for the deal has resulted in a slight increase in debts, with net debt of £803 million against net assets of £2 billion at the end of December. Of the big FTSE 350 oil services groups, Amec Foster Wheeler still has one of the strongest balance sheets, and the company is well diversified. New contracts were awarded on renewable energy and nuclear decommissioning projects. Costs are also being cut by about £40 million this year, which will incur a one-off £50 million hit. Against this backdrop it is difficult to envisage a quick recovery in the profit outlook for companies such as Amec Foster Wheeler. The last time we looked at the shares we downgraded to a sell (972½p, March 24) and with no clear sign of a recovery in the oil price and the possibility of more pain to come, that recommendation remains. Amec Foster Wheeler at 915p-5½p. Questor Says Sell. "
Deutsche Bank From ADVFN:"Deutsche Bank cut its target on Amec Foster Wheeler to 815p from 830p, noting that its trading update on Tuesday was weak, highlighting further pressure on the top line and margins."Despite a diversified structure and ability to lean on cost savings Amec Foster Wheeler is not immune to end-market weakness and current pricing pressure across many markets," said DB, adding that it expects the margin outlook to deteriorate further with no turnaround likely in 2016.Commentary that new contracts are being signed at softer pricing terms also suggests that underlying margin pressure will continue in 2016, said Deutsche.DB cut its 2015 earnings per share estimate by 4.1% to 72.53p from 75.61p.The brokerage said the key attraction is the yield, which at 4.8% compares favourably with Wood Group on 3.3%. However, it said the yield fairly reflects Amec's balance sheet flexibility.DB rates the stock at 'hold'."SP down 10p to 905 today. Why would you hold if the Target Price is 815p?nk

Re: Sell off!! The target set by LG on 15.12 was 728p - a very exact figure. Well the sp dipped to 780p, which is way off the often accurate figure given by LG. Have we yet to reach 728, or was that one that she got wrong?Atm, the sp could be about to go into reverse - or continue its upward trend. I know that a lot of AMFW's work is on large projects that maybe won't be curtailed, but all o&g and mining companies are slashing costs, and I'd say that that would be bound to affect AMFW's margins. Well, we'll know on the 26th March when the Finals are announced.
