Rollercoaster Just watch this baby go. This has to be the most volatile stock in the FTSE250, with daily wings of 6%-8% not uncommon. It's good fun but I'd expect a pullback pretty soon. But once Brent oil price gets to around $50, I'm sure this will gain at least 50% from where it is now (447p) so still plenty of upward movement to come IMO. Hold on for a rollercoaster ride.

CEO Resigns Samir Brikho resigned as CEO and will leave AMFW as from today. He is responsible for allowing the company to amass a huge amount of debt when it bought Foster Wheeler at a highly inflated price. No doubt ;ike so many before him he will be richly rewarded for failure with his severance package. Not good, but at least AMFW are rid. Market seemed to take it well.========== ========== ========== ========== ========== ========== =======Oil and gas services company Amec Foster Wheeler Plc said chief executive Samir Brikho is stepping down, and appointed chief financial officer Ian McHoul as his interim replacement. The company slashed its dividend by half in November as it attempts to survive a slump in oil prices - which are now below $30 a barrel.Brikho, who headed Amec since 2006, oversaw the company's $3 billion purchase of Swiss engineering group Foster Wheeler in 2014, when oil prices were more than $100 a barrel.[link]

Re: Sell off!! It's hardly a dog. AMFW/AMEC have been a pretty successfully run company over many years. I reckon it's unlikely AMFW will cut its div again within the next 2 year,s by which time hopefully the oil glut would have somewhat abated and the oil price will be back on the rise again. I would have thought that when AMFW made their recent cut they were taking a worse case scenario than current trading over the medium term. Of course if the oil price continues to drop down to the lower $20s or worse then all bets are off and not just for AMFW. Anyway I dipped in at 369 a few days ago and with a yield now around 6% I'm happy to hold.Meanwhile Societe Generale issued a 'buy' note last week, not that that means a lot..

Re: Sell off!! having been abroad and out of net range for a few weeks, i missed the latest stocks downturn, but you are looking rather prescient on this 'floor' figure, LG..

Re: Dividend cut Kenj2,You are absolutely right from a T/A perspective this stock is heavily oversold. If it wasn't for the fact that I am heavily over invested in Oil and oil price related / dependant companies then I would certainly be investigating this equity. However I can't and I suspect it might take some time before the price of oil recovers and investment in the oil industry resumes. All of which is not necessarily a problem if you are patient and investing for the long term.

Re: Dividend cut Agreed, but it still makes more sense to talk about current dividends rather than ones that do not pay out until 2017.Like all share trades there is an element of gambling involved. Stocks you buy may go up or down. I called this one too early, I admit. But I believe that this is oversold and will rise, and I expect to be in profit by July next. That's 2016 not 2017.

Damp Seaweed 27 Nov 2015

Re: Dividend cut Kenj2,In the 3 weeks that you have been extolling the virtues of the dividend the share price has dropped from ~565p to ~ 434p.That's a drop of ~23%, which makes the debate about the difference between the current and prospective dividend yield seem a little immaterial ......IMHO

Kenj2 25 Nov 2015

Re: Where's Lambrini gone? AlanT,The two divis that you are quoting are for 2016.Neither of these dividends would actually be paid until 2017.Many investors will have sold long before then.My point is that you could earn 6.6% by buying yesterday and selling at the end of May 2016.That's 6.6% for holding the shares 7 months and a few days.I fully expect the 2016 divi (paid in 2017) to be a good bit lower, but I do not expect to be holding by then, unless this stock picks up dramatically in the meantime.

Alan Tittymarsh 25 Nov 2015

Re: Where's Lambrini gone? Kenj2When I consider divs, it's the prospective div that matters, not one I already know that is going to be reduced. They've left the interim alone for this year but have declared that it will be cut next year along with the final. The realistic view is what what happens next year and beyond. That's what the sp does. And we're almost into next year. So expecting this share to yield 6% + in the next few years is unrealistic IMV.

Kenj2 23 Nov 2015

Re: Where's Lambrini gone? AlanT,The 4.4% dividend rate you are quoting is for the next trading year 2016.At current sp of 438p, the interim divi of 14.8p plus the 50% reduced projected 2015 final divi of 14.2p, add up to 29p payable by July. This represents a 2015 dividend of 6.6%.

Re: Where's Lambrini gone? ps For all we know LG could be a paid tr0ll=========Or even a bloke, I daresay. As long as you believe it is not heading for the knackers yard then AMFW is looking like value now (438p) at an sp level not seen since 2006 It has a PE of just over 7 and a prospective yield of 4.4% nearly 3 times covered if eps slumps by 25% this year.. They do have big debt which is a concern, and will weigh more heavily on the company if the oil price continues to sink. But unless low oil prices are here to stay indefinitely like low interest rates, then this has to be a good long term punt.

Re: On the turn? Based on the old adage about profit warnings coming in threes, I'm in no rush to buy here and will wait and see if Brikho has any more bad news to deliver over the next six to twelve months.
