Re: Dividends All that I can say on dividends is that the chairman has a stonking big shareholding. He'll both want a decent divi and want to make sure that the company stays safe..........

office block with reference to my post in July. It is now known that a rental income will be dervived from the office block, which so many de-cried. In light of the fact that income from hotel property rose by 44% this is as I thought a good income stream I like the way the management think in such a way as to worry as much as what goes out,as they do to what comes in I believe that this is the foundation for any good business. Whilst the share price will not break out of the 27/33 range, neither do I think it will go below added to this a considerably safe dividend, this is a stock which I will keep on topping up within my isa little by little

Re: Office block over the top... Have the company said that they will utilize all of the building,or do they intend to derive a rental income from it. After all ythe hotels are a very good diversified income stream. Add the possible leases on say four floors of this building, and you have the beginnings of a nice little alternative earner,

Re: Office block over the top... Winningstreak,Certainly the fall in the sp seems to back up your conclusion, but hopefully time will be more forgiving - especially since I topped up earlier today. The decent dividend is not to be ignored.HB

Office block over the top... After giving it some consideration, I have concluded that purchase of a £30m eight-storey office block in Singapore is quite over the top. Why so much office space for franchise-expansion. Why not first the franchises, build up the trade first, and then see what needthere is for office space. Surely not an 8-storey office block?IMHO,ws

Re: Modest first purchase I ended up selling these when they shot up and buying them back a couple of days ago. They seem to bounce up and down a fair bit......

Re: Results Yes, all very odd, but better results than I feared, given the delay in announcing them. Bit disappointed that the divi wasn't increased though, given the rise in profits. However, overall, ok me thinks, though could do with the SP moving up a bit more. Still, longer-term, they seem to have hit on a reasonable model for steady, if unspectacular, growth, which is re-assuring.

Re: Results The only stock market rules re publishing annual results for a main market company is that they have to be published not later than 5 months after yearend, viz 25 June for Ashley.Previously they have been very prompt, only 2 months from yearend, and I agree it would be helpful if they had updated the market on any change to this policy. As concerns tend to arise.
