Re: Back on Track AIF appear to be doing better than SMT so why the sell recommendation?

Re: Back on Track sold this one a while back and bought more scottish mortgage - happy about that!!!
Back on Track Re "so AIF could take 3-5 years to get back on track"
Back on Track Re "so AIF could take 3-5 years to get back on track"
Is AIF the best /worst thing since sliced bread. Base on the fact that my current holding, with passed profit taking and excluding 8 years of dividends, have effectively cost me £1.20 each and are therefor giving me a return of 10% per annum its the BEST!
Re: My view is weak sell on AIF Then your view is 'hold' Uncle Doug.Meanwhile consider this long term view:-Largest trance of shares bought at 62p in 2008, increase in SP since then 483%, current income from those shares 21% per annum so original capital investment retuned in dividend payments!Good luck in your future stock picking, See you in 3 months
My view is weak sell on AIF TrivMy view is still a weak sell on AIF but that doesn't mean I have to act on my view and dump my shares. For the moment I am going to hold on and give these puppies a chance with a stop loss at 300. Let's talk again in 3 months and see where we are - hopefully the gap to NAV will close in that time and the sp will be around 320, but I doubt it.
Re: Strong buy My view a short while ago was a 'buy' so I bought, my view now is a 'hold' so I am holding.Your view seems to be a sell but you are not selling you are holding!
Re: Strong buy The only share in my 30 share portfolio with a lower risk factor than AIF is PHP which, has you know, is one of AIF's top 10 shares - probably acquired for its high yield rather than its capital gain potential.
Re: Strong buy picking out one share is irrelevant as Acorn have 40+ stocks. Agreed, under normal circumstances but consider this:-March 4th. TEP £18.50March 4th AIF 375p
Re: Strong buy Re "so AIF could take 3-5 years to get back on track"SP up 7% in 3 weeks
Re: Strong buy Agreed, but why are you still advocating a sell?
Re: Strong buy 4. Why are you still on discussion board anyway if you are gong to dump your shares? That's a bit below the belt. Surely anyone is allowed to offer an opinion? I'm not predicting anything nor am I ready (not quite yet anyway) to dump my shares nor am I trying to convince or convert anyone. I am just giving an opinion. I admit it disagrees with your opinion but I think I'm still allowed to post on this board. Life would be boring if everyone agreed all the time.
Re: Strong buy 3. Why are you looking at a short term performance of the fund when it is a long term investment?Good question. I realise it is a long term investment but out of 80 odd instruments (shares, trusts, bonds, etc) I'm either invested in or have been monitoring AIF has by far been the worst performer in last 12 months. Hence I thought it worth opening a debate here and flag up my worries about where these are going, but you're right - I should give them more time to sort it out. However, it is also mostly my experience that those trusts that perform badly last year tend to repeat it the following year ... so AIF could take 3-5 years to get back on track, in which time my money could've been better spent elsewhere. As I said previously, I'm looking (in vain up to now) for green shoots that a recovery might take place.
