Afren at the moment is not a stock that is traded by news or financials at the moment. I am not here to say buy or sell....I just wanted to give my opinion to some of the less experienced traders, as my background was a financial investment broker. This price, or prices over the last few weeks has been maintained by the investment banks, they have enough money to short and buy to maintain levels in their interest or their clients' interests, do not be fooled that average buyers or shorters are affecting this price at all! All the forms submitted due to large trades you can verify they are shorting when necessary and buying when necessary to maintain the price within a fixed price range....until they decide to release the stock you either join the ride or stay out. I don't think its necessary to say that they will find out the news way before any investor about the merger and have their positions corrected before the price has time to change, options will make sure of that....this is an opinion, but believe me I use to sit in these institutions....
T/O price will be whatever the sp closes at the end of 30th jan so could be £1 or 1p
i bet it sp will go down as low as 14p before the bid from seplat
seplat will make an offer after jan 30th because afr will be even cheaper then and i will be buying more shares
Now down 3.4%. If I hadn't seen this today I don't think that I would have believed it! Feel like a mug for having bought when it was up 14% and looking good!
I still think 25p is a good entry point. This sp should be around 45p.
But at least now I am learning when to buy and sell for the future.
I really did want to top up this morning around 22p but I am already stuck at 50p. I can't afford to put any more money in. All I can do now is wait!
SEPlat have issued a statement on 8th Jan on their website exp they have until 19th Jan to confirm their intention. There is no guarantee yet and they could still back out. However, with the drop in share price and realisation of Kurd oil reserve it might just present a more lucrative buying opportunity.
