Enlightenment This share has gone from extreme lows to extreme highs over the past seven years. It seems to be so predictable it is worth watching again for a steady drop to around 25p or lower. I wonder how many of you on here hung on for the recent highs of over 62p ?n be seeThis is what i think is going on. First AEN does not have a large following of posters on iii or LSE but that does not mean investors are shunning this stock. It's like a secret club where investors tend to trade off when it goes high then (those that belong to the club) begin the same process again of buying back as it nears the previous years lows at under 20p.Maybe this trading process can be seen to operate 3 or 4 times a year. I made a mint on this when it rose to 72p a few years ago. The strange thing was....NO ONE was posting or even replying to my posts except the odd poster that was just as curious as me !One thing i am certain about...AEN is watched by many and then traded UP then DOWN. If you keep your traps SHUT and dor the same....then welcome to the CLUB.The secret appears to be this:-If the stock retraces from recent highs by about 25% then 'the club MEMBERS' won't be buying just yet. The members don't know each other but they seem to know how other members are playing this stock. For myself, i worry that i wait for a retrace that may never come.....one day surely AEN is going to go into triple digits. That's how good i think this share is. AIMOOC ?All In My Opinion Of Course

Re: Here we go again who knows. I acquired some of these shares about 4 or 5 years ago and they have done nothing but loose money since acquiring them. Thankfully only a small holding, so just dropped them in the bottom drawer and left them.The company split a number of years ago and I was given shares in another spin off company that is even worse and giving any news!!in my opinion, avoid like the plague!!!!!

Here we go again Anyone have any idea what is going on? The price history of this stock is extraordinary. Long periods of calm interrupted by very sharp rallies apparently for no reason at all.

Re: Please enlighten me Very odd on HL on Friday. Price was jumping between 27p and 33p and wouldn't let me make an automated trade.Anyway, seems to be back to 23p on II, but not showing any trades after 13:23 on Friday (whereas there were several showing on HL between 13:30 and close).

Re: Please enlighten me waytogo333, the share price has shot up like this before both in 2013 and early 2015. In the latter case it was due to a discovery in the Vaca Muerte, but there does not appear to be any news associated with the first spike in 2013. In both cases the share price continued to drift upwards over subsequent weeks. It's strange. Perhaps its just a function of a thin market, or someone knows something. I would like to say the share price hike has been great for me, but it has only taken me back to flat. Let's hope this is the start of a sustained run.

Re: Please enlighten me No idea I'm afraid - no news to date. This isn't a stock that normally has extreme moves in its SP.Can't really think of any catalysts that were on the horizon re production etc, so my only guess is rumours of either a bid or an acquisition.To sell or not to sell...........................

Sir Michael Rake .....added as a non-exec director. He is one 'heavyweight' director (Chairman of BT etc), so interesting to see what brought him here.......

Solid Good solid producer, receiving $60/barrel for it's Argentina output.Argentina more stable and attractive to foreign investment.Ongoing exploration work in proven fields.Always surprised this stock isn't more 'in favour'.

Re: Thoughts I agree, I can't understand why the share price hasn't moved despite a huge rise in POO and the transformation of the Argentine government. Hopefully the market will wake up at some stage.

Thoughts Great little producing oil company. Guaranteed POO, higher than we're used to seeing in the North Sea and US etc.Doesn't seem to get the attention it deserves - gets mentioned in Malcy's Blog from time to time, but doesn't really seem to be on mainstream radar.Disappointed at the slide over the last year, but certainly a HOLD, if not a top up opportunity....
