Re: sales They may have had a good Xmas but have been in today to a normally busy store and it was almost empty. Rows of cashiers with no queues. More worryingly, the shelves were stacked high with deeply discounted (60%) old season stock. I don't think that Q1 will impress like Q4.

Re: Why sharp rise in SP at 14:47? Ans: [link]

Why sharp rise in SP at 14:47? I do not know why SP rose 100p, 3.1% at 14:47. Anyone know why?A limit order I had placed was triggered at 4 PM at 3265 when I sold 1/4 of my ABF shares. Annoyingly I could have got 3292 shortly before market closed but must not be greedy.A new all time closing high for ABF so cannot be bad. I was overweight in ABF so glad to take some profits (72.5% of average purchase price). I am happy to hold my remaining ABF shares and will consider buying if SP should fall below £29.

Chairman's statement at 11:15 Share price fell sharply following Chairman's statement.I was going to sell some ABF today as above my target price but was a bit slow and missed out.I think it was this bit that market reacted to:"Sales at Primark were more than 10% ahead of last year driven by the selling space expansion both last year and so far this year. Like-for-like sales are currently below expectation as a result of the unseasonably warm weather but, having budgeted this year for a higher level of mark-downs, at this early stage in the year Primark's profit estimate for the full year is unchanged."

New all time closing high yesterday My strong faith in ABF not misplaced. I am thinking of taking some profits because SP rise has resulted in me being significantly overweight in these shares. Being greedy I think I'll wait for SP to reach £32.50. This might only be a few weeks away.Go Primark go, onwards and upward.
