Re: Detailed analysis of ABF Correction sell some at £35 not £34:I will take some profits by selling around 25% of my ABF if SP goes above £35 and buy more if SP falls below £29.
Detailed analysis of ABF In following link Phil Oakley gives a detailed analysis of ABF[link] will take some profits by selling around 25% of my ABF if SP goes above £34 and buy more if SP falls below £29.
Risk of high PE shares in bear market This article by Phil who used to be a professional analyst and who I have a lot of respect. ABF is featured as an example. Interesting article and well worth reading IMO."The risks of owning expensive shares in a bear market" - by Phil Oakley:[link] should be noted that since ABF's high on 2 Dec 2015 SP has fallen 16.6% at yesterdays closing SP. That could be a signal to sell. I have confidence in ABF and am going to hold. FTSE 100 +1.8% now but ABF only up 0.5% so looks like market is nervous about ABF.If SP falls to £27.50 I will top up what is already now still my largest share holding by value.
Getting in a right pickle [link]
Annual results Market appears to have mixed views on results. SP opened 2.6% down but by about 8:15 only 0.2% down, falling back down as I type. Most of the bad news on food deflation had already been flagged. A big concern was that Primark's rapid expansion, with so many new stores opening, would have a negative impact on like-for-like trading however like-for-like increased 1%. They have effectively cut costs, reduced debt and increased dividend by 3%.IMO, on balance, these are good results, considering various head winds they are up against. I would welcome other investors opinions.
Re: New all time high I was in their Oxford St. branch on Monday. Chocker and the usual queue to the checkout. Its a money machine, I bought 3 T shirts for £6. Hardly worth washing them.
Re: New all time high Final results next tuesday
Re: New all time high Looks like being a new all time closing high if SP stays above 3430p.Broker's views on ABF are nonsense. All their target prices are below current SP yet in this months views:5 buys, 2 Overweight, 5 Holds, 1 Neutral no sell recommendations. Its as if they are determined to make investors lose money. I will sell about 12% if SP rises above £43 and buy more if SP falls to around £29.
Primark deal for 7 more USA stores [link] believe todays announcement could herald the start of a process whereby Primark materially underpins its new space requirements across the US through further arrangements with Sears (currently with >2000 sites across the US), providing both access to a raft of prime sites across the country and good visibility on new space development with stores opened in clusters."[link]
Re: New all time high Reached new high again today, currently over £34. Decided time to take some profits so sold 20% of my ABF shares at a shade under £34 when limit order met at market opening. I felt I was overweight in these shares which are still my largest share holding by value at 7.0% thanks to the way they keep going up. Liberium Capital broker have a buy recommendation with a target of £34.50 which seems quite plausible in a month or two.I will consider buying again if SP falls to around £28.50.
New all time high My conviction that ABF was still a buy at date of my last post, has been vindicated. SP has risen 7% in the last 3 weeks. The Telegraph Questor column had a sell note on 8 Sep which I disagreed with, lambrini girl also thought it was a sell on 28 Aug. It might now be time to take some profits but I think I will hold for the moment. I am happy that ABF is my largest share holding by value.[link]
Re: Good trading update lambrini girl.IMO you have misread the rune stones.Yesterdays trading update confirmed: "Our earnings expectation for this financial year is unchanged and reflects a modest decline in adjusted earnings per share for the group for the full year."On Thursday their 1st USA Primark opens. I have confidence that management know what they are doing and as in Europe their business model will be successful. I am even more bullish than my last posting in July. I would now be a strong buyer at less than 3025p with a target price of £35 by 2017.ABF is my largest share holding by value at a 7.79% at yesterdays close. Next largest PSN at 5.71%. Clothes retailing and house building are currently my favourite sectors.
Re: Good trading update SELL..target £23.50..
