bid surely has to be close now......350p??
Results Cash flow is outstanding, so much so that they have more than they can use and are returning some to shareholders. The USA used to be the big hope for expansion but they seem to be doing a fine job growing in just europe & the UK. I foolishly sold half my holding some time ago but will now hang on until there is some sort of M&A. I just hope 888 are the target and don't gear up to do something big and stupid.
i sense something.... i have read this share reasonably well over the years (others not so)! and i do sense that with sector consolidation something could be happening soon......Lads and Coral - Paddy and Betfair 32 red - GVC and Bwin - everyone is joining up and 888 will very soon be doing the same dance or courting someone perhaps..........just a gut feel obviously.222
Joint brokers I see the appointment of J P Morgan Cazenove and Cannacord Genuity as joint brokers. Did the company not have any brokers prior to 13th December? Surely the company must have had at least one adviser! Is there any significance in such appointments?
Re: Pre-Close Trading Statement I think it was coded message to dump as many shares as you can ASAP:Time Price Number Value14:31 192.00p 9,280,590 £17,818,732 Sell O14:32 192.00p 3,146,050 £6,040,416 Sell O14:33 192.00p 2,205,942 £4,235,409 Sell O14:38 192.29p 1,300,000 £2,499,744 Sell O14:32 192.00p 848,008 £1,628,175 Sell O14:33 192.00p 600,000 £1,152,000 Sell OSounded like Young Mr Grace had written the Trading Statement.
Re: Pre-Close Trading Statement Yes not much info. but ' in line with' is less positive than 'at the upper end of ' expectations hence the slight fall in SP.
Pre-Close Trading Statement I have not read many less informative trading statements. I guess "performing well" does mean something, and is reassuring; but there is not much detail there.
Recent company event Does anyone know what happened at the Analyst and Investor Event on the 9th????
Interims Only had a quick skim through them, but on the face of it they look very encouraging.
Re: Merger Not surprisingly William Hill have rejected the initial proposal. It will be interesting to see if the duo return with a higher bid; and whether 888 & Rank still merge if the deal goes no further. It should all become clear by 21st.
Merger Seems a bit unlikely to me, Rank and 888 I can believe, both have similar turnovers and are complimentary but WMH would be 60% by market cap of merger and is the one with all the problems and no CEO. Presumably no cash on the table for shareholders either, just shares in Newco.Sounds like Rank & 888 were getting it together, WMH revealed problems and they thought hey why not.
Out & back In I sold my shares mid month; and have just bought back in - same number of shares - but pocketed nearly 10% of the sales proceeds. I've probably bought back in too soon, but I have confidence in management here.
Puzzled In December 2 directors sold 850,000 shares @ 180 in full knowledge of the results released in March which lifted the SP to 210. In beginning of May the Yitzhaks sold 8% @ 205 but there is no RNS notifying of new owners so presumably no share holding threshold has been crossed. And the SP continues to move on upwards. Seems unlikely but could the Shakeds be accumulating shares for some corporate action or what else can be going on?
Re: Question I will never attempt to explain the oscillations of share prices day to day - they are driven by fear and greed - emotions, not logic - but longer term, this is a well run company with no debts, in a growth market and a good record or growing sales, profits and dividends. Although it is a little difficult to assess the fundamental ratios as last year contained a few oddities, if future years get back to 2015 profits then it is not overly expensive. It probably will not be too affected by the referendum results either.
Question Anyone, please advise as to what is going on.Moving quite well over that last few weeks. Is there more to come? Many thanks (In Advance)I still thinks it's a long term purchase
